Re: This summer is going to a rough one
As I’ve learned more and more, in some ways, I feel more alone and as if I now need to find my own way, and I admit, I don’t know exactly what I’m doing. :) Yet, I’ve received blame for not having figured out or established a better religion! Forums like this or other external sources were blamed a...

Re: Primary kid interviews?
I saw this yesterday and thought it had to be a photoshopped interview... but I got into the survey and it was legit. My assumption is that the church knows they are losing kids earlier and earlier now and are trying to establish authority over them earlier so that they have a harder time getting aw...

Re: GA Visit Review
When you are so tightly wrapped into an organization you make yourself turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. And so when a GA comes, you convince yourself that he brings an even bigger spirit with and that whatever he says is more important than anything you'll hear in person. It's weird what we...

Re: How would Joseph have known about the Comoros Islands?
In asking prolific mormon document collector John Hajicek about the comoros map connection he says there just wasn't any map available contemporary to Joseph and his area of operations making the link unlikely. I think the Comoros Islands connection is a weak one but I agree with Hagoth's point tha...

Re: This summer is going to a rough one
That is what I wish many TBM-loved-ones would offer - at least have the smallest amount of belief in us to trust that maybe we’ve found some truth. I’m not suggesting this is your case, but TBMs in my life tend to shoot the messenger rather than consider any truth in the message. Yeah I think that'...

Re: Another nail in the coffin
She leans over and whispers in the good old Bishop’s ear, “do you know what time it is?” Then with a grin on her face she leans over to the nightstand and seductively pulls open the top drawer... and pulls out her warn blue copy of the Book of Mormon. It’s scripture time she exclaims! They slog thr...

Shorter Alas: http://media.tumblr.com/3bf7aa1b1b2c3f83bb973496ee37505a/tumblr_inline_mhcyljCYu91qz4rgp.gif That's really depressing what you said... even more so that DW refuses to acknowledge any of that. But I can see what it's so difficult for her and I can understand why she's so terrified to lo...

Um... LD$-Inc. already has the ultimate escape room: You have to answer a few questions to get in. (Maybe fib a little about some of those questions.) Pay 10% of your "income." You have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what is going to happen the first time you enter. You get to dress in silly clothing. You're s...

Re: Ensign Blair Faith Promoting Story Now a Video!
I'd say I'm surprised but then again they just released a video on seer stones that is dishonest at every step.
But it takes some balls to promote a story on video that has been thoroughly debunked... I guess they hope people don't search it further.

Re: 'What do you believe?'
Thanks for the responses :) This was not a question I brought up nor is one I really want to tackle. We're trying to find core values we can work together on in teaching our kid - I had suggested we focus on the Bible because I can get behind New Testament values/lessons so we can give our child som...

'What do you believe?'
I don't know if this is a support or mixed faith marriage post, but seems like something everyone can relate to? Over the last year since finding all the stuff out about Mormonism, my wife and I have been trying to find footing to move forward on while she has retrenched in the church and I have obv...

Re: Maybe it’d be nice if everyone posted a very short intro who they are
I started dating a Mormon in high school and took the discussions with her and her parents. I joined in college once I was not living with my parents (who were OK with it but I was trying to be sensitive to everyone). We got married soon after... I stopped going to church about a decade after I star...

Re: Carthage Conspiracy Theory
There is plenty enough really messed up stuff in Church history - we don’t need sensationally speculative crap like this. Well documented history gives us all the batcrap crazy we need in Church history, speculation like this just muddies the waters. This is always a good rule of thumb -- there's n...

Re: RFM--Was the 1835 First Vision Account Suppressed?
I listened to this today while working - it's really interesting not just because it shows the 1835 FV account was likely suppressed along with the 1832 version, but the implications in your citation about how letterbooks get flipped over and used on both sides... which ties into those lost 16 pages...

Re: Carthage Conspiracy Theory
There were rumors that Joseph was going to disavow polygamy as a mistake and order everyone to give up all extra wives. That would not have been something that Brigham wanted, and Brigham DID want power, so I could believe that Brigham would be part of such a plot. But we need better evidence than ...

Re: Martinsburg Abuse Coverup Case
I just read the article - it is horrifying. As I read the first two parts I thought "This is terrible but it's really nothing the church itself could've prevented," and then you're just slammed over the head in the last part with how the church hid details of Jensen's abuse when they moved to WV alo...

Re: Who has seen the new Magic Rock™ video?
I wish they would try to correlate the method use of the seer stones with that of the Urim and Thummim in the Bible. You did not look at the Urim and Thummim of the the Bible in the dark like a crystal ball. They appear to be more like a pair of dice that produced a binary yes/no answer. In Samuel ...

Thanks for posting this - I know there are a bunch of us that are still in the stressful and dangerous ups and downs of a mixed faith marriage, so seeing people start to find their stride is always encouraging. And yes 100000% on the garments. I wish so much they would do away with them... my wife w...
