Re: A Bible A Bible

That is one of my big shelf items (I have thousands of big shelf items it seems). In 600 BC a bible didn't exist. The bible didn't exist until something like 300 AD. Hell, scripture didn't exist in 600 BC, no not even the brass plates. That scripture is such an obvious anachronism but as a TBM it ne...

Re: The 2nd Coming, why is it hardly mentioned anymore?

The other problem related to talk about the Apocalypse is that younger people have a tendency to ask themselves, "If the 2nd Coming is just around the corner, why bother getting myself educated, married, starting a family?" After observing this kind of thinking in the youth, the church realized it ...

The 2nd Coming, why is it hardly mentioned anymore?

This page is mocking the concept but it shows how the 2nd coming to Missouri was on the minds of Mormons a lot: http://redeemjacksoncounty.com/ As a kid in the 80s its all we talked about. In seminary, SS and firesides the "signs of the times" was talked about weekly. The church was definitely a doo...

Selling the Church is like selling caskets.
Everyone needs it, no-one wants it.
Haha, I'm stealing this quote.
Most Sundays a casket sounds better then church.

Re: Elder Bednar and blessings

One for my favorite quotes from one of my favorite movies goes something like this:
"On a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero"
-Tyler Durden in Fight Club.
Maybe Bednar is just channeling his inner Fight Club.

I don't know how to do the word search but I'll bet "grace" was used less than 'blood atonement'.

Why facts don't change our minds.

This is a great article about confirmation bias and why facts don't change our minds: http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/02/27/why-facts-dont-change-our-minds I've shared this video before (on the old NOM board) but it still applies. Whatever happened to Julie Rowe and the end of the world?

I haven't heard of any bold end-time prophecies lately. Has she finally come to the conclusion that she's full of it? It is because the religious party is back in the White House?

Re: Why do the Young Women need to have a fundraiser?

They do it because they can. TBMs are willing to give anything the church asks of them. And more. Once members start asking for something in return, maybe the church will change.

Use it to pollinate tomatoes. My DH has actually done this. It apparently worked.
For some reason "use it to pollinate tomatoes" sounds like a euphemism for something fun.

It seems like this subject comes up when we've been out with our TBM friends. Pretty much all of our TBM friends have vibrators. Good know that at least some TBM women are in control of their pleasure.

Re: Housing and Cars for Missionaries

Way back in the day the church had the missionaries stay with members in So Cal. The entire two years I was on my mission I lived in a member's home.
It was awful. Worst part of my mission, by far, was living with members.

If the BoM says polygamy's purpose is to raise up more "seed" why do apologists try to claim JS didn't have sex with his wives?

Re: The church's real estate holdings

You don't think there'll be cities where people live after the Second Coming? Isn't everything & everyone except for TBMs supposed to be torched? No, just the wicked. Going to be lots of good people who believe something other than Mormonism in the Millennium. First I should go on record saying I d...

Re: What was it like sitting in on a DC?

Couple things - warmth, compassion, and understanding isn't necessarily what everyone gets in a "Court of Love". Maybe the experiences shared thus far are fairly representative, and maybe they aren't, but it is a fact that not everyone is fortunate to have a relatively good experience in them. But ...

Similar experience for Mr and soon-to-be Mrs Kori. A little 3rd base action never hurt nobody.
Nope. A lot of third base action never hurt anyone. I can highly recommend it.
