Re: The Best Two Years?
Worst 2 years of my life. We were taught that "every missionary should baptize a person each month." And since God would never ask you to do something he wouldn't provide a way for you to accomplish, if you didn't baptize, it was because you were not WORTHY. The most toxic word in the LDS cannon to ...

Re: Test the Spirits
Several years ago I was given a few books by Bednar. I don't remember the titles. What I do remember was they basically enthroned the position of "have enough faith NOT to be healed". In one book, I read things that were so offensive to me -- victim blaming -- that I dumped the lot in the trash. The...

But the pulpit continues to be dominated by white men.
Does this mean the church disavows the Book of Mormon?

If some of those older GA guys get this, it would prove the end to many, IMHO. They are certainly old enough, and the way they use to travel can't be helpful for their immunity.

Re: Mormonism seeks and embraces all truth?
So......what about the changes in tongues speaking? There is a historical record that BY did some of this. I personally believe the historical record was doctored on this.
And now the whole tongues thing has been changed to foreign missionaries learning the language.

Re: Mormonism seeks and embraces all truth?
I think this thread is not being fair to Joseph. The genius of Joseph Smith was that he could take what he saw as truth from where ever he found it and cobble it together into some semblance of religion. But Joseph as original prophet was the only one allowed to do that. All truth that science has ...

Elder Gong and his wife have it.
I suppose this will curtail the GAs doing their travel like they usually do. Why can't they just "bless" it away with the priesthood?
Thoughts about all of this and its impact on the upper leadership?

Re: Mormonism seeks and embraces all truth?
Deacon Blues.....I agree this is at least one of the BIGGEST lies Joseph Smith ever said. The church now plays a massive game of gas-lighting to protect itself, hiring legions of apologists, using ad-hominem attacks, intentionally withholding information, suppressing scholarship, and all the while t...

Anything interesting? I did read they are doing new temples. But isn't temple attendance down? I remember watching the Scientology series Leah Remeni did. She showed in several episodes that the Scientology church had BIG buildings...but they were generally empty. It was their way of building the il...

Re: Bruce McConkie days
That is an EXCELLENT lead. Thank you. Specifically, it seems like Bruce was a VERY strong proponent that death only happened on this planet after Adam took the fruit--not before. That is a completely indefensible position IMHO. That guy was REALLY sucked in....he seems to have believed, hook line an...

Re: Temple changes
I have heard rumor from a bishopric acquaintance that in the new version only the witness couple receive the tokens. I wonder if anything changes at the veil. That makes sense. The parts where there is a high risk of transmission would be with the tokens, the prayer circle and at the veil. I wonder...

Re: New Mormon Stories/RFM interview with Egyptologist Robert Ritner
The shifts in church doctrine make me wonder how easily people, Including myself in this, can be swayed by authority and charisma. After listening to this podcast (which was FANTASTIC bye-the-way), I have wondered about JS and the early brethren. Those men were dangerous people, for several reasons:...

Since the church is true and God would never let someone be born gay (see BKP), then why has my friend prayed, fasted, begged, pleaded, and even submitted himself to church sanctioned electrical shock therapy to find himself still gay? Why does he have no memory,...not a single one,...of ever being ...

Race and Priesthood.
The LDS church taught that children who died before the age of 8 were automatically saved.
What would the case be if a black child died before the age of 8?
