Re: A sin resistant generation

I get the desire to have children avoid the pain that can come from mistakes (sin). I don't see how giving them way too many ways to err, then giving them massive guilt for the inevitable help out. That is not a sin resistant generation but a guilt ridden generation.

Early LDS persecution

TL:DR Early church persecution was brought on by horrible people, not by Christian neighbors who were unprovokenly picked on by a bully. I was listening to a few podcasts on the drive home to Utah for Thanksgiving today. They were about some early saint stuff. It hit me that the Mormons were ...

Re: Grooming minds

I remember this. Truly this brings up my biggest conundrum. As an adult I can navigate through this BS but I don't know if it is fair to perpetuate it to my kids. I refuse to let them discover this stuff after a mission, temple wedding, BYU degree, and way too much tithing. If they want to go down t...

Re: A silly story and a serious question

Seriously?!!!

Poor priests had to bless the sacrament 4 times on Sunday and still screwed up. BP finally felt bad and gave up. So dumb!

We are the modern pharisees!

Re: Tithing Settlement Was Great

Went from gross my whole life to Net, to next to nothing. I used the advise of many here to find out how to pay directly to the church w/o the ward being able to see it. BP was confused at the report that was missing any donations after February. I told him we pay direct and he said "we should still...

I am still working on getting DW to do more than a sample sip of various frappuccino's (I can't even spell that). We will see if we get to mild drinks.

You are in a good spot. That is mature and level headed. I am there with you often, but there are times that I struggle still. I have learned that separate belief from belonging, and I belong to this tribe, despite my beliefs. I have learned to find goodness despite of truthfulness, since good is ea...

Re: Should I draw first blood with primary?

My 2 next door neighbors have been out of the church for decades. They sometimes go to another Christian church but mostly seem not engages in religion. They are great people, friends, and neighbors. I have wondered why they have not taken names off the records. We are in a MorCor area. They get bot...

Wow, I am a bit (ok a lot) jealous about all this. 5 lbs is nothing. Don't sweat it and let the good times roll!

Re: The presence of evil?

When I was a teen and watched Waynes World in the theater, the scene where they go to the Alice Cooper concert and Feed My Frankenstein plays on stage I recall a very clear feeling of evil. The funny thing is that I learned to love that song! IDK what caused that feeling. It isn't like I was at EFY ...

Ummm... You can't make this stuff up, but... I was home from school as a 14 year old engaged in "self abuse" under the covers when my dad walked in, sat on the bed, and read the Little Factory talk to me. I was mortified. Now, however...it's hilarious! I am glad you can laugh about that. How horrib...

Re: Want to be a mormon celebrity? Casting call

The proliferation of videos will substantiate evidence for confirmation bias of TBM's.

I wonder if they will ride tapit's or use pack llamas. Maybe their obsidian swords will avoid rust. They should consider involving lots of other tribes that can replace or hide their DNA as well.

Wish list- 1- WoW changes back to suggestion except for liquor and illicit drugs. Coffee and tea fully accepted while beer and wine are treated like caffeinated soda now. 2- temple ordinances cut back to private live ordinances for one-time participation and occasional direct family ordinances for t...

It's good to have you on 2.0. I am an LGBTQ ally with a brother, cousin, friends, employees, and neighbors in the community. It breaks my heart the way the COJCOLDS treats all of us in regards to sex, gender, and roles. It is extremely unfair and flat out wrong on the topic. TOO many lives are ruine...

Re: Blessings and qualifying for same

How self-righteous is it to think we ever deserve anything?! From godly blessings to good karma. LIFE is chance and odds. Positive mental attitude always helps (it is a form of confirmation bias), but I fail to see how any occurrence is anything other than chance and statistics. Lottery winners feel...

Re: Assumptions of evidence

Dr Peterson from BYU/FARMS spoke to our ward many years ago and we were so impressed to learn of these great evidences like NHM and chiasmus that testified of the truthfulness. When our LDS guide Laman gave our tour at Tulum we envisioned the Nephites and Lamanites living there with their flocks and...
