Re: Have any of you considered Catholicism?

No. the reasons I don't believe also affect Catholicism. Yep, they run into the same issue all religions run into for me. It doesn't matter how entertaining or interesting they are or how much social good they do, at the end of the day membership is supposed to be built upon buying into their truth...

Trying some Mexican ground from a little yellow brick package I picked up at Dollar Tree.
Sounds like Cafe Bustelo based on the description.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Tried the Shiraz... not a huge fan. It's palatable but the disconnect between the super fruity nose and what comes across to me as a mouth full of tartness and tannins to me is kinda... meh. So in short, love the smell, not a fan of the taste. I'll be sticking to whiskey and beer I think.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Oliver Winery Gewürztraminer 2017. It's my second serious attempt at trying to figure out wine after an initial ill fated run-in with a tetra-pack Cabernet from Target. Kinda interesting taking it with a tasting notes approach rather than my first, "I wonder what gone bad grape juice tastes like?" I...

Lapsang souchong. It's a, traditionally, pine-wood smoked black tea. Tasty, tasty smokiness. I think I'm in love.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Going to be popping the cork on a store pick Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey. I'm looking forward to it but have been limiting the number of open bottles I keep so a spot just opened up in the line-up from finishing off a Michter's American Unblended Whiskey.

Edit: Tried it and liked it.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Mmmm interesting. So do you like peaty Scotch? I'm a novice though, without giving the game away Scotch is something of a national passtime... :) I love heavily peated Scotch. I've tried Laphroaig, Ardbeg, and of course Lagavulin. I have plans on trying the other Islay distilleries as the opportuni...

Re: If the church were to admit and apologize...

I think the only thing the church could do that would increase my respect of it greatly would require it to change itself into an organization that is completely divorced from what it currently is and I don't think that'll ever happen. Sure, it could apologize for it's behavior concerning it's past ...

Still nice, because I like smoothies.
Nothing wrong with an adult smoothie. I've been known to put a little rum in a pineapple smoothie.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Heaven Hill Mellow Corn BiB. Straight forward and pleasant (though uncomplex), and hard to beat the price at $10.99. Not everything on the bottom shelf is only good for dumping in Diet Dr. Pepper.

Margarita. I wish it was a peach one. I don't know where to find them, and I don't know how to make them, but I had one on my birthday a couple of years ago at a restaurant (that no longer has them). Mmm.

You might then be confronted with "But what if it is true. Wouldn't it be better to error on the side of caution, just in case?"
Good old Pascal's Wager in new clothing. It's not any more valid than Pascal's Wager, but it's nice to see it still gets mileage.

Re: Alcohol Content of Beer in Utah vs Walmart

They don't have "separate" production lines. When a brewery switches from a higher ABV beverage to a lower ABV beverage, they have to "steralize" the entire production line. That would make sense given brewing beer is a batch process. The issue will be that there won't be enough demand for 4.0% ABV...

Re: WOW. The natural history sure blows holes in LDS Theology!

You simply cannot sweep the Garden of Eden and the Fall under the rug. The entire LDS plan falls apart without it. Without a literal fall of Man the atonement makes no sense, and neither does the temple. Yep, beyond the obvious (the need for Jesus to fix the Fall), the doctrine of the subordination...

Re: Facebook "Education Help"

I once had the wife of someone that served in the same mission as I come out of nowhere on Facebook to chastise me for being a covenant breaker in response to something I posted that was not directed to her or her husband. I responded that I understood she felt it was important what she was doing bu...

Re: Alcohol Content of Beer in Utah vs Walmart

Question. Does 3.2 alcohol cost less than 5%? The 3.2% limit in Utah is by weight not volume. A 3.2% ABW beer is 4% ABV, mixing the units exaggerates the difference. The big players Bud Light, Coors Light, and Miller Lite are (outside of 3.2% ABW states) 4.2% ABV so we're talking about a 0.2% ABV d...

Where the hell is the ex-mormon family home evening guide? (Maybe I should start one  ) One suggestion is to delve into philosophy. The great thing is you don't have to agree with what you are reading, if you want to disagree with say John Stuart Mill about Utilitarianism you can do so wit...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

It’s a good one, for sure. Just had another one tonight with Basil Hayden’s Dark Rye. Easy cocktail to start with, for sure. I just love how spirit forward it is. Some cocktails just kinda remind you a particular liquor is in it when it peaks out from behind the other ingredients. An Old Fashion ma...
