Re: Convinced the Q15 know the truth

Thanks alas so well said !!! You always have a way of making things seem obvious. It is my take all 15 are bigger liars than even Trump !!!! Well I'm not so sure about that but big liars anyway . Well, one difference, Trump often lies when he knows full good and well it is a lie. He is a pathologic...

Cannabis. What is my problem?

I've been trying to use cannabis over the past few years and I had "high" hopes that I would love it. I've tried smoking it and edibles. And I don't love it. I'm not sure what my problem is and it's getting to the point that it's even hard for me to understand how other people can like it or use it ...

Re: “By their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matt. 7:20) - Seven years of sex abuse: How Mormon officials let it happen

What can I say? How many people including Alas and many others all the way through Sam Young and beyond have been talking about this sh*t for years and trying to beg and plead and scream and shame the church for some measure of reforms. The bottom line is that the LDS church is not a safe place for ...

Re: The Church's Statement on the AP Arizona Abuse Story

This is such a triggering story for so many who have been abused and traumatized. I'm so sorry. I literally became ill in disgust when I read the story. The LDS church and other high demand religions see confession as integrally important to the salvation of human beings. The church also has deep po...

Re: Convinced the Q15 know the truth

I'm really skeptical about this story. Do they know though? MY POV: I think they do have some recognition of the problems in the church on some level to one degree or another depending on the person. However, much like our spouses and other family and friends who also may know some things or may hav...

Re: Renlund story makes me mad

One thing I see is the importance of rituals for human beings. We have all kinds of them. This one was a spiritual ritual. Human beings have been using rituals for tens of thousands of years and maybe even hundreds of thousands of years. One reason we do rituals is that they help ground us and give ...

Re: Feel Injured->Desire Vengeance->Soothe

I think this is where the rubber meets the road for any person who has been traumatized or abused or injustice has happened to them by someone or a group. Linked, the feelings you are having are normal. And also, it is normal under these circumstances to have revenge fantasies. I know I have had the...

Wow, I never looked at it from the other side with regards to what LDS people would consider eternally positive things such as being sealed together as a couple or family. Whoa!

Re: Husband accepted Primary calling behind my back!

I would feel feelings of hurt and maybe even betrayal over this too I think. My hope is that you can continue to share your feelings with your husband, that he can recognize that your feelings are very legitimate, and that he can learn to do better going forward. I'm sorry you're going through this...

I watched the NetFlix series and I of course loved it. I was always curious about such things before but now knowing the history and how they had been used and it was helping people and then it was suppressed--it's all really fascinating. I would like to look into these tools/medicines. I like at th...

Re: Types of Faith Spectrum

I am curious to know why we noms experienced a faith crisis but why some of our spouses or family have not. Is it because our faith is based on evidence? For us, it might have been that I'm a very emotion-driven person and always had a lot of empathy for others (sometimes to a fault). Even stranger...

Re: Pope n' Prophet

Leaders lead by example. Church leaders who teach and expect their people to follow a repentance process but either don't follow it themselves or don't follow it as an institution are hypocrites and not worth having as leaders. It is a red flag that the organization is sick and/or toxic. Good job to...

Re: Thoughts after visiting Utah

Thanks for this review! Spot on!

It is so congested. I can't even deal with the traffic. Just getting out of Provo to get on I-15 takes an ETERNITY.

The sweet tooth of LDS people is insatiable. The line at the drive-thru soda places are hysterical.

Loved this review.

I am really enjoying the book Changing Your Mind and I am still super curious. A little nervous of course. No plan yet but very curious. I've talked with DW about it and she's not exactly thrilled. I talked with her about her watching over me and she didn't like that idea. Maybe she'll watch the H ...

Re: 4 % tithing sounds like a good idea !!

I can definitely bear my testimony that I know with every fiber of my being that Ms. Stealth and I have been blessed by paying 0% tithing. But I am glad I came across Rock Waterman's essay and during my faith transition discovered the original definition of tithing in the church and that it was chan...

Re: What's worse than the LDS Church? Lots of things.

Everybody is different and every context is different. This is my POV: While there were some extremely damaging things about growing up LDS for me (purity culture especially), there were a lot of good things. Sense of community. A willingness to be there for one another. I had some really good youth...

Re: 4 % tithing sounds like a good idea !!

Among other distortions, is the famous Lorenzo Snow quote that is ellipsized to the point that it changes the entire meaning of the quote. Here is the LDS Church quote of Lorenzo Snow: "I plead with you in the name of the Lord, and I pray that every man, woman and child … shall pay one-tenth of the...
