Re: The husbands of joseph smiths wives.

There are some great accounts about the hubby's. The best ones are the ones that he tried to get. You know like Wilson Law. He has a good story. Lol

BoM

Ok so I have been grappling with a lot of stuff. I feel I have read more than I ever have before in my life. I figure if I donated 1,000's of hours to Church Doctrine maybe it's okay if I makeup some of those hours in search for the truth! So my big question is the prevailing theory on the story of ...

Re: What to do with YSA's

It's a good thing I'm married now. I got kicked out of a YSA because I turned 31. I was lucky there was a refugee camp for us old folks and that's where I met my wife. I always felt the Church had not the slightest clue as to what we needed at that age. That article just reinforces what I already kn...

Re: April ensign article

This is not by accident. Flattery is shallow, insincere, hollow, and exaggerated. Nephi warned of those who “shall teach after this manner, false and vain and foolish doctrines, and shall be puffed up in their hearts, and shall seek deep to hide their counsels from the Lord; and their works shall be...

Re: In Search of Community..

I like your comment and I wish I had something inspiring to give to your quest. Sadly I don't. I am much younger than you I presume (36) and it seems like you are still lost a bit. My own journey is very young (1.5 months) and I feel like I might be like you wanting to hold on to sacred beliefs no m...

Re: A Bible A Bible

Wow that's great. I have never heard of the mound builders. Got anything to read on them? I also read something about the text book presumably in all schools at his time about a Biblical version of the War if 1812. The book title escapes my mind but it correlates with exactly what you are talking ab...

Re: A Bible A Bible

Wow that's a fabulous response John. I hope people can find that response buried in this thread. You are extremely knowledgeable on this subject and it shows in your responses. So just for personal clarification. You think Joseph just made up/inspired the whole BoM story? Do you think Cowdery had a ...

Re: A Bible A Bible

Again I feel like you could be right. However if the glove doesn't fit you must acquit!
So I was doing some more Isiah research and my sources say Isiah was written in 800BCE In other words Lehi would of had a record of those prophecies.
Anyone else got anything??

Went to Church today....

So this was the first time I went to Church after knowing what I know. It was a lot harder than I expected. Have you ever seen those pics where you can't tell what it is? There is one of a landscape looking picture and you can't make much of it. Then they tell you it's a cow and you can see nothing ...

Great info! I just read that same thing while in EQ. I swear to you I literally thought about moving to Kansas City so the move to Zion wouldn't be that hard. Lol

Re: #9-The Only True.....Church

So I am very early on in my post TBM life and the only thing for sure I know is that the LDS Church is not the One and Only True Church. I had a great conversation with my mom and asked her what would she do if they dropped that tagline from Sunday School/GC/RS/ECT. She said she didn't care because ...

Re: Independence Zion

So the RLDS church won the lawsuit but later Hendricks (the prophet/seer of the much smaller Church of Christ (splintered from Joseph) but in 1930 they did an appeal and the Church of Christ owns the land. They were actually in the process of building a temple until the Great Depression hit. Oh the ...

Re: Independence Zion

Wow Just Curious that was awesome. I don't care one way or the other I was just wondering. That's a great explanation. I forgot about the Council of 50 (my wife got a kick out that take). I just assumed Joseph proclaimed or even had revelation that New Jerusalem would be in Independence, MO. Doesn't...
