Re: New handbook of instructions
So the "children of gay parents" policy that was changed was not changed? So, why all the hype about a change in the policy? A new revelation that undid the old revelation? Also, under magnitude: "The number of persons who are aware of the transgression also affects its seriousness." 6.10.6.4 I wond...

Re: What did you really learn from the temple ceremony?
Kids readily take to audio-visual learning. Perhaps this might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BA3SO1sokA Skip to 1:24 if you are pressed for time. :) My kids are adults and I know at least one has looked up the temple ceremony. I was actually speaking in context of being in the LDS Church, ...

Good start. I have to leave in a minute, but when I return, maybe I can research exactly what he said they meant vs what they really mean, unless someone here has the info handy. I'm looking for as much detailed info as anyone cares to post on this thread.

Re: What did you really learn from the temple ceremony?
The temple prep classes are woefully inadequate. Here's what I think should change: Spell out exactly what you'll be promising. Show the clothing. Explain when what is put on, and the changes (now, they don't change the robe to another shoulder, so I understand, but before I left, it was always left...

Re: What did you really learn from the temple ceremony?
I've known for years that "arm to the square" was supposed to chase out devils, but made the temple connection watching the movie over and over. I was aided in the beggar aspect by one of Denver Snuffer's books or posts (I forget which), wherein he talks about approaching the Lord with an outstretch...

Moksha, I can vividly see all of us sitting around in a hot tub, holding our drinks, and discussion philosophy. It sounds like my kind of temple. Reading these posts made me think how nice it would be if the Celestial room also had massage chairs, hot tubs, steam baths, and served baklava wi...

Book of Abraham
So, I did a ton of research about JS and polygamy before I reached a decision about it. (A decision that doesn't match most people's conclusions on this board, but I'm okay with that.) I did a little research about the Book of Mormon (courtesy of Col. Flagg on LDSFF), but feel no real need to believ...

Re: What did you really learn from the temple ceremony?
I went through the temple because I was going on a mission. I did it often during the week before I left for my mission, and as often as possible after. I did a lot of thinking about what the ceremony meant. I did feel the pressure of being told, "Any who want to withdraw may do so now," because I k...

They went to the trouble of kicking you out because you refused to back down when they wanted to glorify a tragedy and endanger children. You rock! You are good and strong, keep it up! Amen! I never paid attention to how long someone was in a calling, except for bishops and stake presidents. Unless...

Oh, do the tarot or oracle cards for me (your choice of which to use). (I know this is in fun, yet I was impressed with your initial blessing on the other thread, and I honestly believe that anyone who desires can tap into the Intelligence that links us together. I'm thinking of insight into a new c...

Re: Evangelical blog article on LDS temple in Haiti
I like the Book of Mormon, when it is separated from the twisted meanings that the LDS church often gives to it. For example, the condemnations in it are always directed at non-members instead of to the members. For example when Mormon or Moroni ask the reader, "Why have you polluted the Holy Church...

Re: Evangelical blog article on LDS temple in Haiti
Newme, more and more, it seems like the church is about the leaders. They fare sumptuously on the back of their members, many of whom live in third world countries and suffer greatly from poverty.
