Old Fashioned made with Four Roses Single Barrel
Heh, I just had my first Old Fashioned tonight. Made with George Dickel Rye. I've become an instant fan of the cocktail.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

I usually don't like cocktails, but the other night I tried the Christmas special at a favourite watering hole...... real eggnog. Eggnog (probably from a carton) but with spiced rum on ice with a light dusting of cinnamon on the rim. Sweet to a fault but brought out happy memories with a twist. Mer...

If what amounts to a hazelnut cousin of Disaronno sounds good keep an eye out for Frangelico.

A few friends, A bottle or two of wine, and a game of Cards Against Humanity can make for a VERY fun evening.

Talking from experience here...
Indeed. A little booze takes Cards Against Humanity to a new level.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

I didn’t feel more relaxed and I actually felt tired haha... but that could have been the time. If you are already tired then some light drinking will tend to bring out your tiredness in the same way that relaxing on a nice comfy couch in a warm room when you are tired will make you sleepy. The cra...

Re: I'm about to be officially "outed": NOM Crowd-Sourcing

I knew you would have a good retort RR! Unfortunately, this is one I can't miss due to any illness, unless I'm literally on my death-bed. I dunno, some ipecac syrup and a willingness to vomit on yourself just as you are about to leave the house (or better yet at the threshold to the temple) would p...

Re: Coffee 101

One question for everyone. Recommendations on cleaning a stainless steel carafe? Mine had been picking up a bit of a stain and normal washing methods are not helping it. Baking soda or vinegar in hot water soaks are traditional methods. If those don't work you can do a bit of a gentle scrub with an...

Re: Have any GA's talked about a faith/truth crisis?

I would think for a GA to even admit that they had experienced a faith crisis would be like putting a damper on their "church progression". Kind of like, "Yeah, you made it through that bad spot but what were you doing there in the first place?" Yep. With the connection between sin and doubting any...

Lagavulin 16. It's like having burnt ends on an old oily diesel fishing boat complete with a curmudgeonly old fisherman who smokes a pipe and wears an oilskin raincoat. I love it.

Re: Shower thought: Are Mormons accostomed to day old baked goods?

Ah, but to bake/deliver on Sunday for not-LDS people, and insist on Saturday pick for postmos? It's really just her being butthurt that I'm not participating in church the way I "should" be. Is that the case? Was open on Sundays 2 months ago != is open on Sunday now (hours of operation do change), ...

Re: Shower thought: Are Mormons accostomed to day old baked goods?

Does this baker really see day old pastry as how she wants her product to represent itself? Thoughts? I think it'd be silly to refuse a sale because you were aware the customer wasn't going to consume it that day. As a customer I would think it weird if a bakery insisted I had to eat the baked good...

Re: Polygamy and later sexual repression

I think I mistakenly assumed that it was something like this: Every time you sin, you get a black mark by your name. The accumulate. Then, when you repent, those black-marks get some white-out. BUT!!!!!!! If you sin again, that white-out gets removed and the WHOLE SMATTERING OF BLACK MARKS COMES BA...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

I tried abt 3 drops before adding to the nog. Tonsils burned for 20 minutes. In the nog it was ok...tasted like nog and booze. Sipping whiskey neat takes some getting used to. But if you can drink 8oz of eggnog with or without booze that's a super rich drink on its own. I started with...

In my prior stake, ALL MEN were asked by the bishop and stake presidency both some additional questions: "When was the last time you looked at porn?" and "When was the last time you masterbated?" Even if you assume all men have at some point, plenty go periods after repenting without. I went years ...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

Dude, I sent Spouseman out for bourbon to try in our nog and about burned my throat off! Might stick to spiced rum. That surprises me actually, an ounce or two of bourbon spiked into a 8 oz glass of eggnog shouldn't be burning throats. At two ounces (assuming 80 proof) that only results in a 8% ABV...

Re: Endure to the End

I wouldn't be able to do it beyond some sort of short term waiting for shock to wear off situation. Those ultimatums would eventually be tested even if the consequence was possible divorce. Not that I would deliberately throw away my marriage, but a marriage with a prerequisite "You pretend to belie...

Re: Elder Jensen teaches Epistemology

It's a crappy epistemology but I could almost respect it if they actually consistently applied it. Have one of those Lutheran students come back with: "I have observed through the holy scriptures that Mormonism is incompatible with the teachings of Jesus." "My life's experience has been that Mormoni...

Re: Marriage Vows

The "forsaking all others" would be the law of chastity in the endowment. The law of chastity as explained in the endowment is not to forsake all others. It's to only have relations with someone you are married to so leaves the door open for polygamous relationships, if the church reinstituted poly...
