By "dirty work" I assume you don't mean fulfill assignments to clean the chapel. Because I spend a fair amount of time not volunteering to clean the church during third hour.

Re: What are your hobbies?

dang! I was sure I had that one right. I didn't realize starcraft also had nukes, but I know supreme commander does, quite fun indeed. I'm going to have to get starcraft one of these days, if I only get one, which one would you recommend, is the one you linked to the best of the series? The one I l...

Easy peasy, Supreme Commander!
Good guess, I had not thought of that one. But it's actually Starcraft from Blizzard Software.

Re: Praise to the Man

This is not some failure on your part. At worst this is losing one yard on a second down. You are playing a long game and it is far from over. If they like "Praise to the Man" then let them watch "Braveheart" when they are teenagers and show them a mythical retelling of the fight for Scottish indepe...

Re: Konfession Time!

I confess that I gave the closing prayer in sacrament meeting yesterday. I somehow gave off enough of a spiritual vibe so that my good bishop asked me to say a prayer. I then gave a brief and (IMHO) spiritual prayer with no hidden meaning beyond a reverence for Jesus Christ. My apostate street cred ...

Re: Recipes for Spam

Sometimes I just wonder, how many recipes are there for Spam? How many times can we hear the same things over and over and over and over? It's getting harder and harder to listen to recipes for Spam, especially ever since I discovered I don't like Spam! I have not seen anything truly new or interes...

Re: You Have No Power Over Me

That was a great article from Robert Kirby, as usual. I would love for him to contrast his experience with BYU where the school really does have profound authority over students. The threats that he so casually and humorously dismisses would have enormous financial and scholastic effects on students...

Re: Has anyone read *Xenocide* by Orson Scott Card?

I read and enjoyed "Xenocide". Orson Scott Card is quite a devout LDS believer. He is not necessarily an orthodox believer, but he is faithful and a bit nuanced in a few areas. He has written a few apologetic essays, but most of his writings lean towards political opinion. I do recommend his officia...

I have struggled with this also. This is how I used to feel. http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/duty_calls.png If someone's belief has no material effect or harms no one else, I have learned to leave people alone. I have some close family members that fervently support someone for president that I am perso...

There is a search function under the "Quick Links" menu on the upper left. Is there a different search function you need?

I have not tried that, but I am just making it up as I go along, after. I think we will aim for fewer moderators with your suggestions in mind.

Re: Gob Doesn’t Love Me and Earth is an Insignificant Ball Travelling through Cold, Dark Space

My wife and I had an early morning talk. I have been feeling depressed and she told me that god loves me. I said, “I wouldn’t send our kids to another plantet and wipe their memory of us. And I wouldn’t tell them, ‘You can talk to me through prayer, but you can’t talk to Mom.’” In my experience, it...

Re: YW need to hear from the priesthood

Last Sunday the Relief Society had a lesson on the priesthood and it was done by having priesthood men and boys teach the lesson. One deacon, teacher, and priest each took a few minutes to describe their duties which surely should not be a surprise to anyone in a mature Relief Society like my ward h...

Ill add my thanks to the reboot of NOM, thanks to RedRyder, Corsair, and who ever else was complicit in establishing our new home on the net. Just a bummer the new website domain is blocked for me at work, probably just as well. If we can now change the colour to green, and put avatars on the left,...

Re: Moderators, hosting, and other admin

I just vote that we have equal representation of male:female moderators as much as possible with those who are available, willing, and would do a good job with it. I'm willing to be a moderator if need be. I have to be honest, I normally assume everyone forum member is male and I don't truly know a...

Pirates. I'm just rebellious enough and not entirely trusted about the church as my ward and extended family have come to understand. Plus, my children and I enjoyed Spongebob Squarepants when they were smaller. The seerstone was added in a year ago when the church released pictures of it.
