Re: I hate to even have to ask this question
I'm actually glad this happened in Utah but feel bad that it even happened. It's just a bigger deal when it happens here. I want to say that KSL didn't print "former" bishop in the first news story like they typically do. This was pretty crazy news though. The hell with doing background checks. One ...

HOAKS just needs to STFU now about LGBTs and the afterlife. If he doesn't know all the answers about polygamy then he sure as hell doesn't know the answers to LGBTs. Did his shock therapy treatment ever work on gays? Nope...fuck him!

Re: New firearms policy...stirring the pot
So my concealed gun is a .380 but when you really think about, I'm probably gonna be outgunned by most active shooters. I don't attend any more but it still worries me. I hope that someone in the audience that knows how to use a gun is packing regardless of this policy. I think I'd rather end up ali...

Re: Temple garments prevented neighbors from joining the church.
It wouldn't surprise me if there were changes down the road on garments. Anything to slow the bleeding right? TSCC likes to keep armor-alling the tires of the the 1970s car behind the house in the field that hasn't run in 20 years.

Re: Couples Married Civilly Now Authorized for Immediate Temple Marriage
JTG, that's how I interpreted at first. But, essentially you could be sealed in the temple the day after your civil wedding even if having sexual relations with your partner kept you from having the one and only true ceremony in the temple. Am I interpreting this correctly? Yes, that makes sense tha...

Re: Couples Married Civilly Now Authorized for Immediate Temple Marriage
Sorry, not sure if this has been asked...in the middle of a hiatus here of anything MORMON so haven't been on here lately. So a young couple doesn't have to be asked if they live by the Law of Chastity if there is no waiting period to be "sealed" in the temple? Basically they just have to answer all...

Re: Packing Heat
Talking to a member of the bishopric several years, I was trying to get his opinion on packing heat at church despite state law and he pretty much thought it was a dumb idea. He insinuated that no harm could happen in "the Lord's" church. I thought that was a pretty silly assumption. And this guy wa...

Re: 90# Pork Butt
Wait a minute, is this perhaps a traeger and you didn't even announce the manufacturer? Lol, a buddy I work with smokes ribs or briskets once a week but always has to remind us it's a traeger. Kind of funny. What a good guy though to cook pork butts and help a brother with his vehicle. I would have ...

Re: If the church were to admit and apologize...
I've often thought about TSCC coming clean but they never will. Too much damage already done. Who's going to admit to or even apologize to "hey, we were wrong about excluding you from seeing your son/daughter get married." Or "hey, sorry we didn't counsel you and your ex-spouse to stay together desp...

Little River Band coming to Brigham City
Thinking about checking this band out in June. They've got several good tunes and probably a break from concerts I usually attend. This would be a good time for our family to chill at the park and I can reminisce the 80s.

FiveFinger, apparently they've kept that option when paying to SLC to keep the amount anonymous? If for some reason I ever did go back and needed a TR, I'd pay on surplus and direct to SL.

Re: Blew up with DW "No more Tithing!"
Hope your DW handles it well. Yeah, you need to go off of her income only and let her know that's the only way those bills are getting paid. Hopefully it'll stick after that. My wife only pays tithing if close family members decide to get married in the temple. Luckily we haven't had that happen in ...

Could your DW be saying this just to get you active again.
Sorry...2biz already suggested this. I'd just ask the wife to avoid one on one conversations.

We give them way more power than they ought to have. I'd have to go with Wonderment on this one.

For some reason I love hearing about shrinking #s. I would love to be a fly on the wall on Sunday but not worth going back just to see who's still in since I left. I do know when I run to Maverick each Sunday, I pass by my old church and the parking lot is always full. All we can have is patience fo...

Re: I'm about to be officially "outed": NOM Crowd-Sourcing
Pretty sad how we have to come up with possible excuses because we don't buy into this bullshit. So glad my daughter canceled her temple wedding and later was married up the canyon at the ski resort. WTF, if I had a TR, I'd loan it to you. (I would seriously consider this if you know anyone) I'm gue...

Re: Tithing Settlement Invitation
Glad they don't bother us anymore. Had a chat with the bishop at the gas station a week ago and he made no mention of TS. We've had awesome bishoprics. When I would attend, I used to hate how they'd lay the guilt on you pretty thick starting in Oct. My least favorite talks were tithing talks. It is ...

Re: Attend one funeral at the ward and you'll be back on the list!
Glad to hear you got to have an honest and open discussion with the stake missionaries. I've never opened up like that to any ward members but I'm lucky to work with a bunch of heathens. Recently I did attend a reception and I made it clear to a couple ward members that I haven't had to work a Sunda...

Re: 2 Hour Church = 10 Hour Home Church
I liked how a member on reddit exmo asked his TBM in-laws the question....Revelation = Less church? Makes a lot of sense. Like could too much revelation and worshiping be harmful to us? "We will demand less church if you spend that extra hour a week in the temple. Of course, keep paying your tithing...

Re: Hi I'm stealthbishop
Welcome back, appreciate the apology. My TBM brother doesn't realize the damage done by one on one bishop interviews. He still believes that's the only way to determine one's worthiness for a mission. I kind of turned it around on him and and told him the TSCC might gain more recruits if they weren'...
