Re: My chance to speak on Easter

Love it. This is what came into my evil mind: References for my Easter sacrament meeting talk today are from The case for Christ and A handmaidens tale from Netflix as well as from Game of Thrones and Big Love from HBO... OMG- I love it! I wish I could get up to give a talk and start out with refer...

Re: Spouseman and the Priesthood

EQP was mouthpiece focusing on this man's need to increase his service. The man is in the hospital with major, major, stuff going on. But service! Spouseman said it was no different than any other blessing. Felt the same, despite our debaucherous lifestyle of second Saturday and coffee. I thought i...

Re: My chance to speak on Easter

One of the most spiritual sacrament meetings I attended was when someone gave a talk on the stations of the cross. I am sure you could google a pretty good narrative and base your talk on it.

Re: Wrapping our identities in the church

In college I pledged a sorority. But I didn't make the cut. I was too enmeshed in the church to be able to give myself to another organization. I remember feeling exactly like your wife- that I was Mormon first and foremost before any other identity. This may just be my perception, but I have notice...

Re: Worth sharing..Response to Nelson’s talk

Her take on his talk was spot on. But I am really blown away from the replies to her post- people disagreeing with her so fiercely. The hero worship is such that Nelson's entitlement is not only supported by his followers but also justified. They want their prophet to be arrogant and self-righteous.

Re: What's all this talk about coffee

As hard as it might be to believe, there is substance to the rumor. I know a few fellows who have close ties to the COB and have spoken with one of them and can tell you with an assurety that allowing consumption of both coffee and green tea with an emphasis on moderation has been discussed at the ...

Re: What's all this talk about coffee

No way they can permit coffee. One day it is keeping you out of the temple and therefore from salvation, and the next it's OK? It won't happen. If they want to change that rule they need to first take the word of wisdom question out of the temple recommend questions, then after about 5-10 years the...

Re: POX policy gone!!!

Is there any evidence or data that shows a suicide directly tied to the policy? The church has hated on gay people long before the policy excluded children of gay parents from getting baptized. Never mind. I'm not advocating the idea that the policy caused anyone to directly commit suicide so need ...

Re: POX policy gone!!!

How many suicides were there, directly related to the policy "revelation" change 4 years ago? Unlike the imaginary Isaac or the kids burned in the BOM there were REAL people that died because of those Fd up old rich homophobic COBlers!!! Keep grasping apologetic TBMs, but you ain't got nothing that...

Re: POX policy gone!!!

The church and the members are getting roasted online. Anywhere this story has been released to a non-lds media source, the comments are brutal.

I would put money on it that no one says a thing about it this weekend. Mum's the word at General Conference.

Re: March Madness

I've got Duke to win it all in my office league. I am still in the game with some of my picks. Not actually a fan- but go Duke! momma needs a new pair of shoes! I picked Duke in the CBSsports bracketeering, but I would be delighted if Gonzaga or Oregon won. After the tournament, sports will more or...

Re: Packing Heat

I have no statistics to back this up, but I suspect that you are more likely to die from natural causes in church (boredom if it is a Mormon church) than a shooting. I die a little each Sunday I attend. I die a little too. I work in law enforcement and have worn my uniform and full duty belt to chu...

Re: Ward Council is Closed (Minded)

[*]"They still come to RS activities and meet-ups at the park. It like they want the benefits of the ward without contributing." This is the quote that haunts me right now. We are partially active. Very little attendance on Sunday- but we do bring the kids to youth activities. I know this has been ...

Wasting marvelous volunteer hours on silly Masonic rituals. Think of all the wonderful things that could have been accomplished for the betterment of Humankind with those generous volunteer hours. That could have made for truly good works. THIS! I mean, could some of those things be done in healthy...

Re: Recent Three Nephites sightings?

Maybe correlation has forced the 3 Nephites to go into hiding. MORmONism has become so boring, that even giant muscle-bound dudes wearing fake Roman armor showing up randomly can't even save it. I know that there is at least one other some-time NOM poster along with myself who thinks that they've b...
