Re: A different Q15 --------- Question #6 (Conduct)
I always answered yes to this question because I am human and sometimes I get angry and yell and sometimes I say things that are unkind. I am not abusive, but I am also not perfect. No one ever seemed to care about this one.

Re: What was your first crack
I must have had a heavy shelf most of my life, because I remember a word of wisdom from my father, in relation to a question I must have asked him but that I don't remember: "God gave you a good brain and he expects you to use it." So even as a kid I was questioning things I was taught. When I was a...

Re: I don't want to be active anymore
I do smile in sacrament meeting. Genuinely and from the heart, because I love so many of the people around me and because the toxic doctrine that comes over the pulpit has no meaning to me and has no hold on me. I smile because I am free, because I am in SM because I want to be there. One of my good...

Oh MerrieMiss, I'm holding my breath for you. This is such a hard step to take. I confess that I haven't taken it yet but I am completely in your camp. I don't believe any of it anymore and it has no hold on me, and my immediate family is completely out, but I love singing in the choir and I love th...

Re: A different Q15 ---------- Question #4 (which actually includes three questions)
Nope, nope, and nope. I've always been taught that sustaining means I have to do what they say, and I refuse to do what they say when what they say is against what I believe. And I haven't seen a whole lot of prophesying, seeing, or revealing going on in SLC lately. Mainly obfuscating.

Re: A different Q15 ---------- Question #3 (Restoration)
Nope. Joseph Smith was just doing what a lot of charismatic people in the 19th century were doing, trying to make some money and get some power from the religious gullibility of others. I've studied the period and there was an awful lot of this stuff going on. None of it was real or genuine.

Re: A different Q15 ----------Question #2
Nope. I don't even really believe that Jesus existed because the Romans kept great records and there are no records of his execution. If he did exist he was probably a zealot, one of the many "messiahs" wandering the wilderness of Judea at the time.

Re: Happy Mother's Day
You just said exactly what I've been thinking today. I've always hated Mother's Day and only in the last few years did it occur to me that it's the church's fault. Totally unrealistic expectations and saccharine garbage about angels, when I knew that my mother was far from perfect and that I am far ...

Re: Looks like I had my last day
Very well put. I have felt this many times in my life but never put it into words. Several times I have been robbed of friends by a boundary change. It's disheartening and disconcerting. My poor mother-in-law is 82 years old and recently got moved into a new ward where she knows no one. I told her t...

Re: Are you a HSP (highly sensitive person)?
I have found it helpful to set boundaries. DH and I belong to a group that goes to plays once a month. I won't go to the ones that have topics or reviews that make me uncomfortable. DH will often take DD in my place because she doesn't mind and he wants to see the show. My friends in the group don't...

Re: The Good News Thread
My son has been accepted to a good school with their top scholarship. The best part is that it's out of state, meaning that he'll finally get away from Utah County. His older sister already fled to California so there's not much keeping us here. All of us successfully out of the church and maybe soo...
