Re: What is the official story on the fate of the Golden Plates?
I tend to buy the argument that Joseph made a set of plates out of tin (or something). Wishful thinking, but I'd love to peek into the 1st Presidency vault and find the ultimate smoking gun - the tin plates.

Re: Priesthood vs. Energy Healing
The church also slightly opened the door when they admitted that women used to have some role in healing blessings. To my knowledge, the church never said that women used to be able to be ordained, set people apart or bless for anything other than health, which is what these people are now doing. It...

Re: RFM and Peter Bleakley
I hate it when you guys talk about great podcasts. I have to question my self induced Mormon podcast ban I placed upon myself a few years back and make an exception to listen. What is his end game? To agitate for change from within? What’s caused him to be so vocal and speak out on a known “anti Mo...

Re: Zygotes on thrones
That's what I was thinking. Wouldn't that be an important piece of knowledge to have? No wishy-washy-ness? But then actual murder is also okay in some circumstances. Laban had to be killed for preserving scriptures, death penalty, burning witches, taking out terrorists, etc. The only really importa...

Re: Zygotes on thrones
The church's stance on abortion is more nuanced than most members portray. As i remember it, Hinckley said that since we don't know when the soul enters the body we err on the side of caution. Or similar meaning words. Thus it can be lesser than murder and there are circumstances where it is valid....

Re: Kwaku, FAIRMomon, and terminating Dehlin
The most recent episode of Hidden Brain seems to me to apply to these events. You can find it here: https://hiddenbrain.org/podcast/screaming-into-the-void/ . It deals with the outrage cycle. The way to get attention in our social media world is to be outraged. Using emotion and ridicule get people...

Re: Kwaku, FAIRMomon, and terminating Dehlin
Kwaku also stoked the flames after John brought attention to the threat with stupid comments about John's "grave". My opinion: Kwaku is engaging in parody, but he's missing the key ingredient that parody needs, which is truth. When Thinker put out the fake apology a while back, it was clever. You ca...

Re: Does anyone have a NHM explainer handy by chance?
Between Hagoth's point about Comoros and Hamer's point about Nahum, NHM can be dismissed out of hand. If it is a "hit" because of it's similarity to the BoM text, then so are Comoros and Nahum, both of which prove the fraud. Can't have it both ways, but of course, apologists need to have it both ways.

Re: Mask wearing at Temple recommend question
Ha! Adding something to help alleviate virus spread to the temple recommend question would mean that Rusty and the other 14 stooges would actually have to "take a stand" on something during these pandemic times; Besides whining that they weren't able to spread as much guilt and shame via Zoom as th...

Re: An Old White Man Discusses Racism
He may have been talking about racism, but he was really talking about obedience to the PSR's, as always. He can never mention the old stance without reminding members just how wrong they were before. And if they were wrong before (including all of the current leaders who were adults in 1978) then w...

She was quite passionate in that talk, which leads me to believe she was repeating something she had heard but that she really believed. It's no excuse for telling a BS story, of course. After all the BS stories and people getting caught (Dunn and Holland come to mind) I am still surprised that they...

Re: Jaredite logistics
The answer to all of this is something like "have faith" or "trust in the Lord" or "didn't you receive a witness of the book?" But a problem with faith-based answers is that the book goes into some design features, like the plug holes, no windows and the size. Why bother giving any detail at all if...

D&C 7 - Joseph has an argument with Oliver about whether John "tarried" or died. He wins the argument by looking at the seer stone, seeing a parchment with John's handwriting on it, and the parchment answers the question in Joseph's favor, bing bang boom - Joseph is right. D&C 8 - The time when Oliv...

Re: General Konference Predictions
I remember the days of hoping for some big revelation coming out at conference. It was the last days and all. Surely the prophet would have some vital proclamation to make. Now I predict he will say nothing of any real value to mankind other than confirming to live a christ like life. Which does no...

Re: Another blow to John Gee
I've been browsing and occasionally commenting on some faithful reddit boards, and it astounds me how much they defend John Gee and his work, and claim that Jana is "out to get him" and had a nefarious hand in getting his book pulled from Deseret Book and the BYU religious centre. Lest we forget, J...

I think we'll find out how important it is to the leadership by how much they reference it in the next GC Show.
