Re: Explaining Miracles
my favorite was when Yahweh appeared to Moses and showed him his butt instead of his face. I clearly didn’t pay attention in my BYU Old Testament class  Exodus 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. 21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a pla...

Re: Tithing settlement
I quit going to tithing settlement a few years ago. We’ve paid via bill pay for a while and had no push back. But I read on exponent that headquarters is changing that now and bill pay donations will be reported. I immediately emailed lds donations honestly expecting them to just confirm what they h...

Definitely progress! And I’m a big fan of the “live and let live” approach. I’m working on my DH giving me some of that

Re: Mormon guy's adoption scheme...again
I had the same reaction to #2. Felt like a gotcha moment. I also found it odd that he even commented. Don’t the GAs keep quiet until told to speak up? Isn’t the MO to let the official church spokesman make the comment?

Re: Baby Steps
Thanks all!! I worried there would be backlash but instead he suggested I leave during 2nd hour yesterday and take our daughter home. Maybe this is the beginning of the new us!

Baby Steps
Read through some of my posts over the years here. It’s not a new realization but the reason my husband is ok with my faith crisis is because I have totally given in and for all intents and purposes am an active member. So today I reminded him that when the youngest is an adult in a few years I will...

Re: Outward expression
Mormons are always trying to see them on other Mormons though...I’ve been garment checked by several family members and had a brother call me out for not wearing them.

Re: Loyal Christian's hanging onto mormonism
That would reasonably describe me. I am hanging onto Mormonism simply for family and friends. This is not something that would be a welcome discussion in your average ward. The LDS church simply cannot and does not let their members simply be "Christian". It seems that the LDS church operates by be...

Re: Fear as motivating conservative values
I used to talk about Satan like he was real but deep down I thought it was a little silly, like believing in the bogeyman. Like others, when I lost belief in God/Christ then Satan belief died too. When I started down this path a few years ago I definitely realized and acknowledged that my fear based...
Re: Grooming
I hear you. When my kids were little I wouldn’t let them sit by other people or go to the bathroom alone. The more sex offenders are in the news the more anxious I get about littles. My older child was victimized by a relative. I realize strange men at a football game are much less likely but I can...

Re: Tired and worn out of the Church
So many armchair quarterback comments come to mind here but then I realize I’m not living your life. Your wife is! Perhaps find a therapist where you can work these issues out with your wife. It’s not mentally healthy to live under this pressure from the church and your spouse. You should fin...

Re: Out Groups
This is a tough spot. Like jfro18, I live quite far from most of my family, but I can still empathize with you because when we are together, there is no discussion outside of the church topics. My brother and his wife humble brag about how his daughters were never allowed to see the new Beauty and ...

Re: New message about choosing to believe
Religion is the only place in my life where I was warned that I was in constant danger of losing what I “knew”. I was warned to constantly share what I knew and to constantly shore up what I knew with more prayer, more study, more *you name it* and was still as risk to lose my testimony. When I aske...

I also found this one fascinating. I didn't realize that these GAs traveled so much during that time and that the children were farmed out so much. But, yea, family first!

Re: Reformed Egyptian
I can't even consider turning my brain off and going back to TSCC. Every now and then my DH says something that makes me realize he's waiting for me to go back to believing. It's a bit startling that he doesn't realize there is no going back. I listened to the Mormon Discussions Jana Reiss podcast ...

I read a post somewhere a long time ago about a RSP that was pretty unorthodox. She got called to be more orthodox and started holding RS under a tree in a nearby park. Maybe I'd do that.
