For my purposes,
Yeah, I get this.

We all look at things the way that suits us.

My comment wasn't to be argumentative, just that I have my doubts. I'd defend polygamy for JS, as I can see certain reasons for it, but not for BY. It's quite the dilemma, really.

Re: Reincarnated As A Psychopath

The trick is, say that Bushlady Jane is walking the bush and sees a brownish lump in the grass ahead. Her brain gives her two instant ideas, 1, it's a 800lbs lion. 2, a rock to have lunch on. Statistically, the brain is x5 more likely to go with option 1. That is why Bushlady Jane will live long eno...

Re: A God of pleading not for me

I’ve heard of God descibed many different ways, but one of the ones I personally like best is the idea that God is Love - pure love. And love really when it comes down to my understanding of it is largely based on my subjective interpretation of how I feel loved or love others. And I define love as...

Re: Why no children from JS plural marriages?

I hope that he did. But, in spite of your reliable articles, if you go deep enough into the rabbit hole, there is reasonable doubt.

But, why no children?

We base the no children assumption on DNA reports from a genetics lab that has a strong history of Church apologetics.
The church wants him to be guilty, because if he isn't, the whole thing is a fraud.

Re: Why no children from JS plural marriages?

Perhaps I've watched too much CSI over the last few years. I used to believe that Joseph Smith had pleural wives. I wanted to believe that. But once simply observed there isn't any evidence. The testimonies would probably be thrown out of court. Simply too much bias. There is evidence the Brigham Yo...

Re: Why no children from JS plural marriages?

Ahmed's Razor is the religious version of Occam's Razor, except that Ahmed doesn't shave.

Point is, all the "evidence" that these women were married to JS comes through BY, but was denied by JS and ES in public statements.

Re: Why no children from JS plural marriages?

Ahmed's Razor I think suggests that they weren't his wives.

Re: Disgusting Primary Manual story that sets unrealistic expectations

This is a bit harsh. Perhaps true, but watching Disney channel really loads kids down with expectations. Every tv show tells kids that they need to be special, that they can change the world, and that extraordinary is the new ordinary.

Re: A God of pleading not for me

Praying, pleading, (as worded) is the spiritual equivalent of breathing. Many years ago, before our ancestors could be called human, we didn't have mysterious questions. We didn't wonder what we did wrong, or how we could please the gods. But then, then we noticed that lightning caused fire, and we ...

I was feeling rejected. I thought maybe it was because of my religion.

I'm back, with a different name.

I tried to join using my old name but after several tries, I tried a new one.

I was on nom for a bit. I missed it.

Re: RS Visiting Teaching message for October

But here is the clincher- at the bottom is the question: "How can we continue to show charity to those who do not want to live the principles of the gospel?" -------------- With questions like that, there is no way we can truly co-exist. Self-righteousness is a human thing, not restricted to religi...

Re: Reincarnated As A Psychopath

Perhaps you were inferring that your co-worker is the psychopath. Of course I have no opinion on that. A psychopath has no feelings of connection to others. He cannot feel their pain. Not in the way that an empath would. But sometimes his purpose can have a higher benefit. Sometimes predators are wh...

Re: There Is No Plan

There is a plan. Imagine that you are an electronic engineer. You have a design for a light switch. This includes the light, the switch, the conductors, and the power source. In a technical sense your plan is perfect. But suddenly you have to decide how you are going to make your components. What ki...

Re: Reincarnated As A Psychopath

Mechanical actions are not to be compared to conscious action. If a robot kills someone, it is not going to cross over with remorse. Same with a psychopath. They cannot feel the pain, therefore cannot be moved to regret. They would not feel guilt anymore than a wolf in the herd of sheep would. Judgm...

Re: Reincarnated As A Psychopath

Some scientists believe that the universe is something they call holoflux, that past, present, and future exist at the same time. A psychopath might not be able to choose the pathology of the body. The only thing we might be able to control is how we look at it. The "mindfulness state" is sort of a ...

Re: Reincarnated As A Psychopath

The Wiccans believe that the soul goes to a place called Summerland where it rests between lives. I'll like that idea. Still tired, though. I agree with this in part. The energy of a life has a specific "vibration." It adds to who we are in the long run, sort of juice in the ole life-battery or flo...

Re: Reincarnated As A Psychopath

So, why aren't there fewer and fewer psychopaths as time marches on? Do enlightened beings choose to incarnate as psychopaths in order to meet out karmic justice? What's up with this? Psychopaths are largely a biological thing, thus the word "path" is in the name, meaning that their pathology is su...
