I have an ally!
My DS that returned from his mish almost a year ago now, has been having a faith transition. He read the CES letter and is currently reading "Saints" and following the footnotes, which he says is quite an eye opener. I can have conversations with him now, and I don't feel quite so isolated. (Althoug...

Sorry folks, for doing the drive by thing again. Amidst all the turmoil of this pandemic, I have found myself needing to find new employment, so I've had little room in my head for being here. DW is now having some doubts about the church. She has always been a very social person, she needs a lot mo...

Under "Have you noticed any of the following problems..." Why do they not have an option for, "Soul crushingly oppressive. Simon nailed it.
This stuff is intentionally self-deceptive and destructive, I am having a hard time not getting frustrated by it.

Now that the church had a world-wide fast, I am going to put my garments back on, get a blessing and go lick the door handles at Walmart.

Re: Cancelling Church is PROOF that CFM was inspired
Yes, I remember that prophetic guidance as well. I think we stopped talking about it in 1983. Yes, the timing is a little off, it would have been a lot more helpful to NOT hoard wheat in #10 cans for 30 years, and instead put the money I spent of years savings in GOLD. Or even better, just tell us ...

I got a call from my father yesterday, reminding me that the Prophets have been telling us to store food, and that those prophets were right.

Re: Cancelling Church is PROOF that CFM was inspired
I completely agree with the women and the priesthood remarks. That's the problem though, there were a couple family members who were questioning things. Including women and the priesthood, but this COVID stuff has them all convinced there is something to all this. That covid is a plague to drive us ...

Cancelling Church is PROOF that CFM was inspired
Ug, Have been trying really hard to just put Mormonism out of my life as much as possible. Things have been reasonably quiet around my place and I have mostly avoided Internet Mormonism. Enter COVID-19 and now I am being inundated with "End of Days" and "Come Follow Me" is PROOF that RMN is getting ...

[Apologist Hat ON] There was no other option for Nephi than to kill Laban, If Laban had not been killed, He would have pursued Nephi and his brothers and killed them. This was just pre-emptive self defense. Besides, important lessons were taught here about how important the scriptures are. Without t...

Just want to let you know I am enjoying the annotated BoM site. Especially the captcha asking to identify which animal is not a real horse.

Re: One hour church
Yes, yes, the rumors are true! My ward is piloting 1 hour church and it is magnificent and glorious! Whoever received the revelation to pilot this is a true messenger from God! This same pilot program is also testing sacrament wine, no garments, and 1% tithing. #TenderPilotMercy! I'm in, please hel...

Linked, Solidarity. I still teach SS (course 12) this is only to keep DW happy. I think if I were to ask her, she would say I should give up my calling. I would love to just take her at her word and do that, but it would raise eyebrows. Then what? If I refuse to take another calling then the microsc...

Re: One hour church
As someone in Arizona, it sounds great, but I doubt it. No rumors of One Hour Church have circulated around my ward. Granted, I am not in a bishopric, so perhaps such a delightful idea has not yet reached me. Also in AZ and hearing nothing about this. I think if a ward were indeed piloting this, th...

Well... You could always teach the real truth about the BoM and get yourself fired. Start teaching about magic rocks and hats, and see how long you last?  Oh its defiantly crossed my mind! You guys made me read the online Come Follow Me outlines... they're much shorter and looser than ...

Re: How do I teach primary?
I'm with you on the horrible lesson guides. I used to enjoy reading through lesson manuals, I thought they had a lot of good information. After a broken shelf they are just insidious. Questions like "How do the testimonies of the 3 and 8 witnesses strengthen your testimony?" are so leading, they ar...

Re: How do I teach primary?
So I am dredging this old thread up again, because I am still teaching. Its now a Sunday school class, not primary anymore. I didn't have too much trouble last year, due to the new schedule I only have to teach once a month. When its my turn, I usually start late and let the kids talk about their we...
