Re: Easter and Celebration
I think this just falls into false traditions of forefathers. All other Christian sects focus on Easter so we won't. You would think this is their time to shine - Quoting from D&C all the time, "That he lives, for we saw him". I think this i why they don't think focus on Easter too much. Don't pay ...

Re: "Do you still visit that website (NOM)?"
In a discussion with my dad over not watching conference, I mentioned that I participated in an online forum of the "less than faithful" variety. He said, "an internet forum? " The subtext was that Internet forums are a den of iniquity. He told me, "why would you expend effort on that but not on con...

Re: A sinless generation...
This is something that has bothered me too for the last few months. It seems the church has evolved to accept Lucifer's plan rather than Christ's. You know the plan of no agency, everyone must obey and everyone makes the trip back to Narnia to be with the father. Not much different that current dog...

Re: I figured it out, why can't you?
This why the forum here is so important. We all need to be understood, and no one can understand like someone who has been there. You are right, what she is comparing is apples and oranges. I have met up with people on this forum twice, and both times I have felt an instant understanding even though...

Re: Oops. Just Outed Myself as a Non-Believer to Family
That really stinks. My family has been doing a slow burn but it seems to be picking up steam. It's no fun. There is no manual for how to navigate this. Only just to show love as much as you would like to receive it.

I really struggle with the make the world a better place thing. I told myself I would give tithing money to better places or to fast offerings. I haven't. I have just pocketed that money and it has felt damn good to do so. I guess I am a selfish asshole too.

Re: President Monson Closing Talk at Priesthood Session Aborted?
I don't feel bad for any of the q12. They know what they are doing at that point and they know where life is headed. I don't feel bad for the 1st quorum of the 70 either because they probably just hope to make it to the big time someday. It's the lesser quorums and area authorities I feel bad for. T...

Re: BoM
I love this analogy! Another big moment for me was the realization that the choice of either staying in the boat or giving myself over to the storm is a false dichotomy. Once I had taken that big step, and realized I was standing in calm knee-deep water, I saw that there was no storm, just a bunch ...

Re: Would the church thrive if it gave up control?
I have to agree that it would not thrive. It would be popular with a fairly specific group of fundamentalist type people, but it wouldn't have much draw. It doesn't have a whole lot of draw for me right now. Any draw it does have is related to me having grown up in it.

Emower you are a good person! I am glad you had these conversations. They feel great, don't they?! It really does come down to the social/family. After all that is how the good lord will build the eternities. Who needs atoms or even legos when you can use the family unit as the eternal building blo...

Re: Conference Report and Analysis
Had anyone else noticed the trend in the Mormon leaks documents where the authorities advocate for leaders to take a slow approach to discipline and then say "the members may resign their membership?" I have read that in several of the documents. It's almost as if they just hope the problem will go ...
