Re: Mission Call

Last night, my youngest brother opened his mission call. There were at least 75 people there to watch him open and read his call. On another note: This whole culture surrounding the way kids "open" mission calls nowadays is W E I R D . OK, maybe it's only weird compared to the way us old-fogies use...

My ideal temple recommend interview

I have seen others post about this and thought I'd weigh in here as well. I'm a little strange. I really enjoy talking about my thoughts and beliefs about religion with people that have different beliefs than me. I'd love to be able to have an open an honest temple recommend interview where I get th...

Re: Mission Call

As of late, I've been more conscious about sharing too much information about myself online. If you are really that interested, please PM me and I'll let you know where he's going.

Re: Helping out the bishop

I really like the approach you used in the conversation with your bishop. Even though you were in his office, you took control of the discussion. Good for you.

Re: Mission Call

I would love to know more why you feel you can't stay a part of the church with unorthodox belief. You are a card holding temple "worthy" member. In practical terms you're no different then many of the others sitting on your pew at SM. Everyone assumes the others are doing the whole enchilada when ...

I'll be at the Saturday AM session in person. I'll let you know what the feeling in the room is like when the 'big announcement' comes down.

I still hold on to some semblance of belief, but it is certainly unconventional by moron standards.
I don't think that's quite what you meant.
Thank you. I fixed it...

Mission Call

I am the oldest of 10 children. Last night, my youngest brother opened his mission call. There were at least 75 people there to watch him open and read his call. He was so incredibly excited. It was everything he could do to keep from crying as he read his call. I could feel his happiness exuding. I...

The look on Eyring's face when he's staring off into space is just creepy, and I like him.

Re: FP news conference

I am watching the press conference on youtube now. Oaks has a really big stupid grin on his face. Oaks and Nelson were called on the same day to be apostles. They are obviously close and friends. This reminds me of when I was called to be the President of the Deacon's quorum in my ward growing up an...

Re: Uchtdorf is out, Oaks is in...

This message will be heard loud and clear. I'm not sure when the last time was that this was done to a counselor (like what is being done to Uchtdorf). It's only happened once. When Joseph Fielding Smith became the President of the Church at the age of 93, he kicked out Hugh B Brown. And it's stran...

Uchtdorf is out, Oaks is in...

I'm watching the broadcast. Uchtdorf is out. Oaks is in.

I'm pretty upset. This is a major 'dis' to Uchtdorf and hope of near term future 'progress' in the church.

I'm not taking this well...

Hello NOM!!! I was in the neighborhood and wanted to stop by and say hello. Yes, I also thought it was a good time to return with my original name. It's been a busy few months. Not a really a lot of changes, if you want the highlight reel, look at my Konfessions post. 2017 was a pretty rough year o...

OMGs we are also going to get a new member of the 12. We will have to do a special pre-NOMfrence game where we guess who will get what calling.
We're probably going to get two.

Re: President Monson's Passing

Benson chose not to retain Romney given his age and health. In the other instances mentioned, there was only one counselor to keep as the other counselor was becoming the President. The only time a counselor was not retained for reasons other than health in the last 100 years was when Joseph Fieldin...

The benefits of the youth program

Last night, I went to pick up my son from his Young Men scouting activity. The scoutmaster had all the deacons seated in his driveway around a fire pit. I only caught the last 10 minutes of the evening. The scout master had given all of the young men the opportunity to share whatever was on their mi...

Re: "Have you heard what Brother Bednar said?"

No doubt it is very difficult to have conversations like this with family members. Whenever discussion like this comes up, I try to point out that Christians have been awaiting Jesus' return since they saw him ascend into heaven as described in the book of Acts. I think after I make comments like th...
