Apothic Inferno, it's a red wine aged 60 days in whiskey barrels.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

I have wanted to have an evening of trying out a bunch of beers in shot glass quantities. I drink so infrequently that I still have very little perspective on the most common beers available. Flights are your best bet, though they're usually 4 oz or so and not shot glass sized. There is also the is...

Re: The presence of evil?

I think it's relatively easy, depending on upbringing of course, to associate feelings of discomfort or unease with evil. Where Mormon culture is concerned you have verses like Galatians 5:19-23, 3 Nephi 11:2, various talks, teaching materials, and even one of the names of the spirit ( The Comforter...

Re: Facebook and Divorce

Am I just being petty? I don't hold a grudge against DH's family that are "friends" with her, but it feels very disloyal to him and to me. I wouldn't "friend" one of my siblings ex-spouses, especially if they'd been remarried to someone else twice as long as they were married to the ex-spouse. I'd ...

Stone Xocoveza. It's a quite delightful stout brewed with cocoa, coffee, peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Tastes like the holidays.

Simple, if God is with you then anyone against you is against God. It's the ultimate justifying phrase, the only thing you have to worry about is iron chariots.

I like to crack a beer while playing various games. Just keep in mind it'll affect how you play. It may be for the better or it may be for the worse, it depends on the circumstances.

Re: ExMo logo - WARNING - Temple Info

Seriously considering a few of these. What do you think, it is OK to jest with something like this if you're no longer a believer, or is it simply bad taste and should be avoided? I think it is okay to jest about something like that. That being said, there is a time and place for humor. I recall th...

Re: Do you drink coffee?

It isn't the amount of caffein, but the taste. Yuck! Bitter and burned. And I do drink tea, but normally I drink that weak too because it tastes bitter. I like chai tea and green tea best. But they even have some of the bitter taste. I never would have described green tea (admittedly I've only done...

Re: Another Testament of Marriage

This accidentally happened to me. This past weekend my wife was visiting family in SLC, so I brought home my coffee lab (AeroPress) from the office. I accidentally left my spouted glass measuring cup out on the counter. She was not happy when she discovered where it came from. We had a long talk. I...

What are your thoughts on this matter? I think he's engaging in a logical non-sequitur. The premises he gives are insufficient to conclude the church is true in the sense he means it. For instance, those premises could be met and the church could be in a current state of apostasy. Indeed it could b...

Re: Do you drink coffee?

Oh, and yes, I started to drink coffee trying to get a less chemical form of caffein than Diet Coke as a way to control ADD. But to make it less gaggy, I had to add cream and sweetener. What is the point of coffee if I still have to add artificial sweetener? I am in the group of, yes I like a littl...

He then said I needed to stick to church approved sources like he does. That sentiment amuses and frustrates me these days. It's something that only fails to raise alarm bells to someone who is a "true believer" of whatever organization or philosophy that is involved. If you insisted he needed to o...

Re: Do you drink coffee?

I enjoy coffee in the morning (though only if I've enough time between preparation and having to be somewhere due to certain gastrointestinal effects). Nothing fancy though, just Folgers, black, from a drip machine. I also enjoy a nice coffee stout though that's sorta a different ball game.

Which would be a bit of a shame for them, as it might keep a few more members from nodding off during sacrament meeting if they could get a shot of caffeine.

And the fact that leadership does nothing to help says a lot about how much they care about the members. They know there are believing members whose spouses no longer believe in the Church, they know many of these believing members are in a great deal of pain, and what have they done to help them? ...

Re: Sacrament water

Well, according to FAIR, which is always correct, the FP started using water in temple sacrament meetings in 1906. It appears to be primarily driven by the temperance movement movement, which finally led to prohibition. Mormon leaders were big into abandoning alcohol, and it seemed like a good time...

I found it because it was mentioned on r/NOMforum. Reddit and NOM scratch different itches for me, and ignoring format differences they have different tones and community. r/exmormon is like a football stadium, thousands of people cheering, booing, gasping at bad and amazing plays, people arguing ov...
