Re: Cultural Mormon in Japan here

Welcome JehuLove! Glad you found us. You are a long way from home. What takes you to Japan? So you've been out since 2004 and now live directly behind the Nagoya mission home... I bet that makes for some interesting conversation with the missionaries. I look forward to hearing more from you.

Re: Letters to My Dearly Departed Basset Hound

I'm sorry for the loss of your dear Mindy. Your letters were beautiful and touching, bringing tears to my eyes. How fortunate for you and Mindy to be together for such a long time. Thank you for this beautiful tribute and for allowing us to share your grief.

Re: Forum Rules?

As much as I would like a NSFW forum here, I don't think we should. This place is supposed to be a halfway point between belief and outer darkness. If someone needs to let loose, Reddit ExMo will happily tolerate anything. Even if we disclaimer a specific forum as "anything goes", eventually spouse...

Re: Where is everybody

I escaped from the MorCor last summer and now live in a forest about 50 miles from Lake Tahoe on the California side. Zadok it sounds like you and your DW are having the best trip of a lifetime! Awesome! Send us updates along the way :D

Re: Apostate Quotes for Faithful Talks

Great collection of quotes ... all that I just added to my quote folder. Pretty gutsy of you to inject these quotes into your talk and now counsel with the youth. Here's my counter quote to Uchtdorfs quote on doubts: "Cherish your doubts, for doubt is the attendant of truth. Doubt is the key to the ...

Re: Another Introduction

Welcome OffBeat! I am always envious of those who find out this crazy stuff when they are young. You have just spared yourself a lot of pain and suffering by figuring it all out now before you jumped into that rabbit whole. The Families are forever theme was a huge brick on my shelf too. The whole c...

Welcome Emower! Glad you found us! How did you like Norway? My brother went there but that was eons ago. Curious, just how much of a problem is it there with people leaving? My brother came home from his mission and left right after he did the obligatory temple wedding to make the parents happy. I l...

Re: a long journey still underway

You are an amazing woman and I thank you for your story .... your words deeply touched my soul. My youngest son as made several failed attempts at suicide since his early return from his mission, so I can only imagine what you and your family have had to deal with. Cosair is right in that none of us...

Re: How the Church Screws Up Marriages Before They Even Happen

I was thinking today about how the way that the Church teaches youth about marriage causes problems in a lot of LDS marriages. Think about it - what are youth told to look for in a potential mate? "Faithful priesthood holder", "honors covenants", "spiritual", "faithful to the Church", "returned mis...

Re: Liber societatis lunaris amicorum

LSOF I appreciate your comments on your journey. I am always envious of those like you who discover the church for what it is when they are young. You are lucky in that you have discovered this madness before making those LDS seal the deal decisions i.e. going on a mission, marry in the temple and w...

Re: Just another NOM

Welcome Enough is Enough! If you are from the Miracle of Forgiveness era we are probably about the same age. Such a awful book that did a lot of damage. The control and manipulate has been one of my biggest problems with the church as well. You are ahead of the game in that you recognize it and are ...

Meilingkie thanks for your story. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for you being in the bishopric and having your shelf fall. Where is your wife on this? Do you see the time when the both of you will resign? Curious on the scandal. Last we heard the SP rounded up certain individuals inc...

Re: The big leak

What ever the leak is I would like it to be enough for the church to loose it's tax status. I've thought about a few other things but don't think they would be as effective something that would really hurt the church itself and publicly humiliate them. I would like a leak that would bring a federal ...

Re: Asked to pray in church

Well done HIPS! I've save this to my NOM file. Praying after the shelf fell was a hard one. TBM DH was always asking me to say the blessing on the food at family gathering well knowing I had issues with it. This is a perfect NOMish prayer. Beautiful!
