Re: The Church has just changed interview policy

Can men have another adult or child in the room when they’re being interviewed? :D

Re: Believing DW asked for CES letter

Since everyone is different it's difficult to say how your relationship will be impacted. When I shared the letter with my DW she read through it (not in great detail) and afterwards agreed it was very disturbing. Though I've not left the church entirely, she's still more 'in' than I am. At the very...

I’m about as far along as your are but the jury’s out for me. Visually, I get the feeling they’re trying to mimic Blade Runner.

Re: Standing for the stake president

It was (oddly, I thought) customary to stand for the SP when he came into HC meetings here too. Nowhere else though. Stand as a congregation when he comes into a room? That’s BS. (How ‘bout if you’re on the can when he walks in?)

Oliver recently predicted Dieters forthcoming humility tour. This appeared on my FB feed last night, as expected: https://www.facebook.com/lds.dieter.f.uchtdorf/?hc_ref=ARRs2An6Hb7-2oO-J9I_2k6HX21Oj6Z7b00qcvQX2T26A834ultpfNFcWj03wEKxHGc What gets me are many of the comments - those rebuking others f...

Re: The Hypocrisy of President Monson’s Funeral

The little factory foreman was certainly influential. The funerals I've attended prominently feature at least one talk that is little more than a missionary discussion for the nons in attendance. They sound more like a sales pitch.

Re: Why do they call bishops with young children?

In my neck of the woods I believe our SP (a zealot) calls younger Bishops (who are going to have young families) because he wants bobble-headed yes men who will be obedient to his direction and not challenge his authority. It’s a trend I’ve noticed throughout his term. The older guys were less likel...

I have that 'nightmare' from time to time too. In mine I have the sense that I have already served multiple missions - as well as, "Hey, I'm married now. WTH!" But she's not included.

When I was little it was the tail end of Wizard of Oz. More recently, 'The Notebook'. Got me and DW.

Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath

I know the subject has come up but I'm entertained by the show and enjoy spotting similarities between Scientology and Mormonism (or other religions for that matter). IMO, the doctrine/business of Scientology is way, way off the reservation, even by LDS standards. But it's still fun to find parallel...

Re: New missionary interview questions

Disturbing on so many levels. Hey, maybe they'll incorporate more probing questions with Q&A into the rank and file TR interview too. That would be awesome! Always up for a good rectal exam. Actually I could see this happening as a natural progression without any official instruction. Some bishops a...

...then worry about it later. Later as in, it'll get sorted out in the eternities? Fortunately, DW and I came to a 'new understanding' of what a full tithe means. If we were to stop paying completely (which I don't think she would want to do) and not renew our recommends that expire shortly, ...

"I Will Be What I Believe", a primary song/music vid, hits all the talking points (follow the prophet, JS, BOM. pioneers) from the get-go. Indoctrinate 'em young! Re: Have you ever cause a FC for someone else?

We may directly or indirectly facilitate a FC in others, but the church is complicit... or maybe it's the other way around. My DS checked out (all on his own) a long time ago. MY DW is milling around the rabbit hole but is actually too busy with life to venture in. Someday, perhaps.
