Re: Connection to Christianity Waning...

Unless, like most of Christianity, you believe in eternal consequences. There are a number of Christian Churches that speak of a loving God. Nothing is preventing us from holding more Christian views than the Brethren. Before rejoining the former Mormon Church I subscribed to a progressive Christia...

Re: DW wants to see LDS Family Services - Feel like I'm at a breaking point

Caution: LDSFS requires a confidentiality release that gives your bishop access to everything you talk about. Wonder how accrediting boards for the various therapeutic disciplines are able to rationalize this? Probably not a problem in Utah, but elsewhere it would seem to be at odds with their code...

Re: Elias and Elijah identity problem

Joseph Smith was not a biblical scholar, so we should cut him some slack as far as thinking that different spellings represented different people. Not having any divine insight, I know I could easily make that mistake. President Nelson could easily rectify this misunderstanding by declaring both the...

Question about LDS Church

Does the LDS Church (COJCOLDS) believe each person has the right to live a life of dignity with access to basic necessities in a safe and sustainable environment?

Re: Temple Clothes

Speaking of copying the Masons and Masonic offshoots, what if the LDS Church, instead of spending all its time doing baptisms for the dead had put that enormous output of work hours into running and maintaining something similar to the Shriner's Hospitals? They could have all worn white within this ...

Michigan voted to legalize recreational marijuana. I'm guessing that the Michigan Elders will hold stake-wide seances to oppose this legalization.

But Jim Dabakis was cautionary in reminding people that the state (i.e. the political branch of the church) still has plenty of room to implement the law in a way that makes it difficult to impossible for suffering patients to get access to cannabis despite it's legality. For one thing, they have a...

But he was ordained by a Strangite priesthood holder as a young man, and grew up in Voree Wisconsin in a house on "Mormon road".
Doesn't that background by itself represent the justification to defame Mr. Hajicek? What if he used some of those documents in a non-faith promoting manner?

Someone just bragged about spending 60 hours/week on the temple. Do you have any idea what this person's options for those 60 hours/week might be otherwise? It probably beats hanging around the River City Billiards Parlor day in or day out, or even going to Ethel's Beauty Parlor for the latest goss...

UTE VILLAGE - Chief Trumpaloopa gathered village people to hear the latest state of emergency. "Seems a caravan of bad hombres is making its way to our peaceful village," Chief Trumpaloompa announced yesterday. It is thought that the bad hombres originated somewhere east of the Big Muddy. Not much ...

Re: We pray upstairs

Given that Valley Tan was made with wheat and oats, could we assume that barley and corn were in short supply for the early Utah Mormons? Malted whiskeys are made with barley and Kentucky whiskeys are made with corn. I would imagine the early Utah Mormons also tried making a distilled drink from sug...

Re: In which tattoos are discussed

However, personally speaking I think tattoos are equivalent to wall paper. Over time they become dated reflecting time and current fads. Plus the tattoos are subject to bodily changes like wrinkling. Whatever you do, make sure the tattoo artist can spell. http://www.doseoffunny.com/wp-content/uploa...

Re: What would you expect if the church was true?

To me, what's done is done. Truth from this point on would be to fess up regarding inaccuracies and cease any further falsehoods. I believe the Church can be a force for good in the world and offer spiritual guidance for its members. I think something can be as good as gold even if it did not start ...
