Re: Future of handshakes at church/temple
There is a lot of touching with inititories, too. It's been a long time since i did one. I was convinced the guy was going to touch my junk. Remember the five points of fellowship? A lot of touching during that now-removed masonic ritual. I was scared about inappropriate touching, too and was happy...

Re: Future of handshakes at church/temple
Don't forget the old temple helper men that made sure the deacon age boys showered off after baptisms for the dead. I specifically remembered that happening.

Hate to be the one to break it to you but the Proclamation has been official Church doctrine since 1995. Yeah, we got a whole new proclamation. It was so generic it could have just been the preface ripped out of a Sunday school manual. To the OP, it was one of the greatest General Conferences of al...

The idea that down syndrome kids are pure CK chosen ones is a later attempt to bury the prevalent doctrine that all handicaps in mortal life are because of being less valiant.

I think this is the strangest conference in all history. Granted I wasn't around for the hellfire and brimstone talks of the 1850s.

Re: No Book of Mormon, no gathering of Israel???
The literal physical gathering ship has sailed. There have been statements regarding such to explain why converts stay in their home countries now. Henceforth all gatherings are spiritual only. The "back to Missouri" nonsense lives on only in the imaginations of the Julie Rowes and the Chad Daybells...

I have to wonder if the accountants will talley the cost savings involved with the shutdown and bring those findings to the Q15, spurring even more revelations reducing our time in buildings after the pandemic. I imagine the electrical and HVAC savings are quite substantial.

I have passed the garment hurdle
Because of home church bringing up some uncomfortable discussion content, I took the opportunity to have a crucial conversation regarding garment wear and it actually facilitated a less emotionally charged transition than if I had just stopped wearing them without discussion. So far I'm on 2 days an...

Re: My blood is boiling - stranded church member with health issues
My in laws are south of the border and were given the option to stay and they have. I suppose some 3rd world countries are possibly safer regarding the rate of infections than the US right now. But if it does get bad there, they are up a creek without a paddle. I am convinced they totally buy into d...

I just told my wife the JFS letter story after she announced the neighbor and his son will be coming over tomorrow to give the sacrament. It pisses me off but I will be off hiking or something so whatever.

Anyone want to attend my divorce party? (don’t worry I’ll give you a time slot, just 5 guests max at once.) So I have been seeing in NY the awful conditions the health workers are in; wearing trash bags for protective gowns, not enough med supplies etc. And I saw that nurse who died at age 48 there...

Yeah he could probably shoot maybe 12 or 16 of them killer viruses. Great system. [emoji38] Dunno which would be more effective, guns or prayer against this bug.......it's a coin toss. They shoot the looters not the virus, although you might argue that a virus carrying looter is the same as a zombi...

Re: LDS Church temporarily suspends all meetings....
Our stake just authorized individual families to sanctify their own bread and water. That says a lot about the way the church works, doesn't it? You can't say a prayer over a piece of bread in your own home without approval coming down from above. I'm a priesthood holder and I will happily bless th...

Re: States are closing down
I have a son in San Francisco, and he's in total lockdown. I am really worried about the poor and homeless people in places like that. SF has a lot of people on the streets and a lot more who are just one paycheck away from it. This country is going to have to stop worrying about what is and isn't ...

The first COVID victim attended the bountiful temple last week. Hence the announced shutdown of it with no reason given: https://www.deseret.com/faith/2020/3/23/21191722/mormon-temple-covid-19-coronavirus-utah-death-bountiful-lds-church I guess the invisible nephites that stand guard outside all the...

Re: Any church-at-home experience to report?
I saw on another board (maybe reddit/latterdaysaints) that the area president someplace in the US issued a firm order that the members are NOT to conduct a sacrament meeting. He said only the prophet can authorized a sacrament meeting, and he has not done so. He said members can sing and have an op...
