Re: Keeping up with Trump
I don't think I saw flaws like you seem to think I did. My observation was watching the news report the thief. Then after the election never mentioned again. this happens all the time that the news drops a story. It might be because of time and editorial constraints it might be because nothing's hap...

Re: Keeping up with Trump
There was no insurrection. No one has proved otherwise. There are some assumptions in that claim that I think are flawed. Insurrection is not clearly delineated by specific features or actions in US law. It uses more generalized terms. To say no one has proved otherwise is to assume there are speci...

There is a scene in On a Sunbeam. That's a genderqueer sci-fi comic about a space construction crew. You can read the whole thing on-line for free or buy it at most bookstores. https://www.onasunbeam.com/ In roughly the middle of Chapter 13, they're leaving a job that went bad and this scene crystal...

It's about protecting church tax exemption even if they disallow gay marriage on their property or officiation.

Re: the long difficult hikes sharing difficulty can be very romantic, at least in building connection. If you want to hike fast, hike alone. If you want to hike far, hike in groups. The psychology of that holds and if you show concern for the others condition and cooperate, it matters on those tough...

Re: What to Say to Son
Let your son direct how deep to go.
Start with that you just don't believe anymore and that's OK. If he wants to know more, let him direct on what topics and when. Let him know you'll talk about it as much or as little as he wants.

Most of what we consider Jewish culture arose after the return to Jerusalem, 2nd temple Judaism. It didn't really exist at the time of Lehi. Monotheism, synagogues, most of the recognized scripture....

There are assumptions in the question I don't think are in evidence to even begin to answer the question.

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7630730-atonement-theology-is-not-the-pathway-to-life-the-ability is the source of this quote. I've read the book and I like it. It is perhaps a fringe view that sees the gospels as parallel to the the Jewish liturgical calendar. I think it gives a more early Christo...

What I take from your points is that Luke really wasn't written by a friend and direct traveler with/follower of Paul as is generally asserted in traditional Christendom

I personally don't wear identifying products. I don't put bumper stickers on my car. I don't wear brand labels splayed across my shirt. Sadly, I can't so easily get around it in footwear. I don't wear jewelry, even watches except rarely. I usually trim off tags on the inside of clothes too, just bec...

Re: What’s wrong with the cross?
They sometimes speak of the empty cross as symbolic of Jesus victory over death. That makes more sense for the empty tomb IMHO. The empty cross would still be for a dead jesus it seems. Most of the home crucifixes I saw in Germany displayed a tortured suffering Christ on the cross. In Neal Stephenso...

Re: Were we all traumatized by being Mormon?
My mission messed with my head. Even though my sister said on my return it wasn't like I had gone at all. It didn't change me. I certainly didn't and don't value the religious study and practice habits she adopted on her mission. But even then I had nightmares for years about being on a mission or f...
