NO would go before somewhere like Las Vegas? That said, I haven't been there but LV is a pretty high bar to jump.
What's funny is there's many times as a TBM that I entertained the idea that SLC would be the first place to go!

Re: If the church were to admit and apologize...
I picked the third option, though I still wouldn't respect it all that much more. I don't see how it could restore my belief - their admission of lies would indicate that was in fact not believable.

Actually, every time I have one, I think of him. Too late for me today, but tomorrow I'll make a point of getting one.

Re: Winter is Coming in April
I found S1 particularly slow - in fact I stopped watching because it was so hard to get into. I did eventually push through though, and by early S2 I was quite hooked. S1 seemed to be all foundation building, which though necessary doesn't propel the story forward so much. I've rewatched parts of S1...

Re: Need to vent, has nothing to do with Mormonism
So sorry to hear that, alas. I agree with those who say they would rather not be kept alive when there's no hope of recovery. I would hope that if it came to that that someone would accept that my own needs would supersede their desire to avoid grieving. I do need to get on that will thing.

Sounds like you're doing great! The friendships will come naturally as you get out and widen your social circles in the new city.

Re: The Omegaverse?
Hmm. So, the Alphas and Omegas technically are not human since they can't procreate with the Betas, but only with each other? It kind of sounds like they've just shuffled off the regular spectrum of people's sexuality to the side and replaced it with the same kind of binary viewpoint that has been h...

Re: Russell's Long Journey out of Mormonism
I only had the briefest of direct interactions with Hinckley in person, at the temple dedication in Halifax N.S. He came across as rather impatient, dismissive, and aloof. After the dedication, he was whisked away in his hired limo with nary a wave to the crowd gathered around to wave goodbye. An ex...

Completely blindsided. Did anyone else foresee this coming? https://www.ksl.com/article/46489179/church-opposes-sale-of-heavy-beer-in-utah-grocery-convenience-stores I think that every time TSCC pulls a stunt like this, they just look more stupid to the entire world. Maybe they think they look like...

Re: What does everyone listen to?
Pretty much everything, though I'm not really partial to Country. Depending on my mood, it can be anything from dubstep to Debussy, B-52's to Bach, Thomas Tallis to the Tragically Hip.
Even within an artist/group there are things I like/dislike.

Re: The exmo selfie train!
I didn't know that Reddit thread existed. It's really kind of beautiful reading all those different stories. One of the greatest things I've found about being out of the church is no longer feeling the need to judge others, but rather accept them for who they are. And perhaps most importantly, that ...

This was my go to inspiration song from the time it was released. Even during my TBM days, I would return to it when things in the church got tough. Still one of my favourites.

Re: Salt Lake as Luxor
Don't give the institutional church any ideas. A full theme park for Mormonism does not sound completely out of character for the LDS church. The Potemkin Village of Nauvoo is crazy enough without getting a more elaborate homage to LDS authority and personality. The Hill Cumorah Pageant was pretty ...
