Re: Please Sir, I Want Some More... Church

... He mentioned that his church friend had asked my son if he was coming to church Sunday, and that it would be good if he did. ... If you want to blow some minds, come up with a non-church activity on a Sunday, invite "church friend" and tell him "it would be good" if he attended with your son. A...

Re: Please Sir, I Want Some More... Church

What does your son really want here? It sounds like your son wants to go to church to see his friends and right now church is where they meet. Can you encourage him to meet his friends outside of church? An after school or a Saturday activity?

In one of my last visits I learned it's painful sitting on top of so much MST3K gold and not being able to whisper it to the person sitting next to you.

Okay, when will you take one of NewNameNoah's temple Videos and do a Rifftrax to it? That would be AMAZING!

*I can't and won't try to speak on what Initiatory is like for women. I just know I hated it. Did you get the celestial wiener grab too? …and to think that was a normal part of the initiatory until 2005??? Re: Rethinking the Renlund's dented boat

To further grow the revised analogy, when you are brought onboard, you are shown to some of the guest rooms and are amazed by how nice they look. They have windows, but always have the curtains pulled closed. Once you agree to stay and take the time to really explore the ship you find that you were ...

Re: What did you learn in the temple today, honey?

One thing that stood out to be when I first got my endowment in 2000 pre-mission, was just how much of a let down it was. It is hyped to such extent about how amazing it all was and i came out thinking that I had pretty much heard everything already and there was very little that was actually new. O...

Re: Returning Missionary Procedures

When i got home, I had to report to the stake president. Before he released me, he asked if a church court had been held for me while on the mission. I truthfully answered, "no." He told me that was a standard question that he had to ask all returning missionaries. May I ask how long ago this was? ...

Re: THANK YOU OHIO

I try to avoid politics, but this is one that fascinates me. Back in 2009-2010 when the ACA (Affordable Care Act)* was being pushed through Washington, one of the big rallying cries from conservatives was that the law would allow for government to have too much control over a person's health care. T...

Re: The Cost of a Janitor

Where I work, when Covid hit, they hired a local janitorial company to clean and sanitize the office, bathrooms and breaks rooms. It was the most practical way to comply with state and company requirements and still keep the factory running. One thing they found is that everyone appreciated having c...

I’m ok with members cleaning weekly. But God forbid, can we please have someone do a deep clean on a quarterly basis? Our building smells so bad when you walk in even the Holy Ghost gets offended as we all swear under our breath. It’s a hint of mold, dirty diapers, stale air, and dirty deacon socks...

Re: After 10+ years inactive, I decided to return for good

Honestly, I dread the idea of being on my death bed, having denied God because I got doubtful about church money, controversies, contradictions, church history, while denying all the good blessings I had received as a believer. I don't know who originally said this, but I find it truthful. There ar...

Re: Slowly fading away? The future of NOM?

I think a good portion of the decline is a reflection of the internet in general. Message boards like this just are not as popular as they used to be. A lot of people shifted to sites like Redit & Quora, but even those have seen declines in the number of posts of that last few years. I am a member o...

Re: Decline of Mormonism in USA

Lets put some numbers to this and look at the results. Numbers come from US Census Bureau and the article linked. In 2008, US population was 304,100,000. 1.8% of that is 5,473,800 LDS members. In 2022, US population was 333,290,000. 1.2% of that is 3,999,480 LDS members. WOW!!! So in a time where th...

Pages 3-50: pictures of people being really happy as they write tithing checks, walk through the temple doors, sit in meetings, gaze lovingly at the TV during general conference, and scrub the toilets. Wow, they've been doing photo ops like these for so long that I can already vividly see each one....

This is the type of scone that I was raised on. I still love the occasional one with a drizzle of honey butter.

This has caused me a lot of confusion since I moved to the east coast and here they have the traditional British style scones. I have to make my own.

Re: So Many podcasts, so little time.

I pick and choose. I have a long commute so I listen to a lot of podcasts. Science, news, economics, hobbies, etc. There is some ex-mo podcasts, I'm really picky about them these days. I used to be big fans of Infants on Thrones. However, that team has fallen apart and the little new content they do...
