Re: LDS Church sets date to commemorate 40th anniversary of priesthood revelation

This seems to be gospel topics essays step 2. I think this issue has been a big problem for a lot of people when they look into it on their own, so they probably want to put it out there on their terms and describe how it is actually a faith promoting story. This kind of reminds me of how the churc...

Re: What is the actual benefit of "Families are Forever"

Great opening post! How about these problems with “Families are Forever” that I’ve been thinking about lately. First, I was wondering how much I would even have in common with my grandparents now that I’m an adult. They were great grandparents for me as a child. They did all the grandparent things, ...

Re: What are you doing during GC?

I'm going to go through my normal routine. Anything interesting will be splashed all over the internet at the end of the day. If something's especially interesting, then I'll wait until its in print and read it. At this point, I'm more excited about the new Han Solo movie than discovering the lates...

Re: Mysteries in the Book of Mormon?

Welcome! Enjoyed reading your post! I really started questioning the BOM on my mission and for me it was the lack of archeology evidence that broke my shelf. The very fact that it is a “mystery” should be a big red flag. Too often TBMs give the scriptures too much credit when they don’t understand s...

Re: What spirit made of?

One of the best explanations of the soul I've heard came from a Jehovah's Witness. They said that there is no soul, but that God retains the memory of your mind and personality, like a live backup, and will simply recreate you after death. That takes care of the spirit problem, so now all you have ...

I haven’t seen all your previous posts, but you may want to check to make sure this isn’t a “lonely heart” type of interent scam. They are pretty common scams in which the scammer finds lonely men and women over the internet and moves in really fast. A quick marriage is exteme, but they usually star...

Re: Book of Mormon Clarification

The BOM is fiction. Any attempt to point out errors from a historical perspective is somewhat an exercise in futility. Of course there are a bunch of errors, flaws and downright ridiculous stuff in there. It was written by a 19th century dude or dudes. Maybe even a dudette. So any analysis that att...

Re: Elder Nelson's Book of Mormon Blog

It's not enough to be a good person. It's not enough to live the gospel according to scripture. It's not enough to sincerely seek god and do all you can to do right. Without the approved ordinances found only in the LDS church, without correctly answering a set of recommend questions, and without h...

Re: Mormonism is a broken record on both sides of the vinyl

I distinctly remember in 2004 randomly coming across the recovery from mormonism board (RfM). I was bored that weekend and so I spent an hour reading over it. My shelf had crashed on my mission in the 90’s and I went inactive soon after I got back and, even though I still had to pretend to be TBM ar...

Great Post! So very true! This is why is stopped attending at all! You just can’t attend a few times a year (Christmas and Easter) without being considered a second-class member! Heck, my family has attended the neighborhood Methodist church a few times over the years (Christmas and Easter) and we c...

Re: Church Admonishes to Use Only Approved Sources

Great podcast about conference! The inflammatory statements that Oaks made kind of overshadowed the rest of confererence, but there was still an amazing number of crazy messages in the other talks! Radio Free Mormon’s podcast does a great job analyzing them all! I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it ...

I think faith can help kick your body's natural defenses into high gear. That is not always sufficient to overcome an infection or illness.

The placebo effect is very real so I think priesthood blessing can have a significant positive effect for TBMs.

Re: -800 Units in Europe

Interesting to hear about the consolidation in Europe. Last year there were two big consolidations that I heard about in SLC. One in the Sugar House area and the other one just up the street involving the stakes around This is the Place Monument. The latter lost 4 wards I think. Which is surprising ...

Well, sent this, and some other tidbits to John Dehlin.
He contacted me, and asked me to do a podcast with him.

SP won+t like it, but let´s just say I can´t be bothered by what the authoritah thinks.
That would be great if you did a podcast! Love to hear the European perspective!
