Re: New biblical scholarship overview on Adam and Eve with Mormonism - looking for feedback
Your work is incredible and you know I'm a huge fan. Kinda funny, but as I was reading the intro it struck me that Mormonism claims not only a literal Garden and Adam/Eve, and a literal 6,000 year timelines - but it also literally happened in MO. Add the Jesus visit to the Americas and the literal c...

Re: Shared temple rituals
Oh NO Ross & Carrie is a fun podcast. I'm sure you've heard their episodes where they take the lessons and join the church. They were respectful and went along, it was very entertaining.

Re: Temple changes
Exactly which God skill does God use to read the names on the rolls of the temple? Is this omnipresence? Is it Omni-knowledge? Does someone still print out on paper and cut the names into strips ow will they now just slide a thumb drive or iPad into the pouch? Which begs the question, if God can so...

Re: My wife got flowers from her dead father, c/o her TBM sister
Ugh. I hope this doesn't cause your wife too much angst. I haven't received any proxy gifts from dead relatives, but I did get the "Your dead parent is disappointed" when some of my immediate family finally figured out I had given up on all things COJCOLd$. I just ignored that comment. I tell mysel...

My wife got flowers from her dead father, c/o her TBM sister
This sister is very, very TBM to the point of fanaticism. While she has been kind to DW since our exit from TSCC in 2016, the relationship has that familiar strain which comes with the famous TBM sad, disappointed face. It started with a phone call from the sister, claiming a very special spiritual ...

Re: New RFM podcast - John Gee Comes Clean - BoA apologetics are being obliterated lately
I had to listen to it as soon as it dropped. Our homeboy RFM is not letting these guys off the hook. RFM is a very unique blend - he has an aptitude for detail and argument, a great memory and he's organized in his delivery. He's a nightmare for FAIR.

I listened to part of that Gee PGP video while I was grocery shopping... Can you please share a link with us? All this time I didn't even know there was a Pearl of Great Price Central! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5zdKRLQV-8 I only made it about 20-25 minutes or so in before I was home and had ...

Re: New Mormon Stories/RFM interview with Egyptologist Robert Ritner
not that Gee is EVER going to go on a show with his former mentor as much as I'd kill to see it. It really doesn't seem like that much to ask from people whose purpose in life is to defend the truth, does it? Running away from such a wonderful missionary opportunity might suggest that what they are...

Re: New Mormon Stories/RFM interview with Egyptologist Robert Ritner
Is it possible that the church will remove the facsimiles from the BoA at some point? Really, these are the easiest targets indicating that JS made it all up. I think they might, but gradually. Since more and more people read scriptures online the church can make small, incremental changes. They wi...

Re: New Mormon Stories/RFM interview with Egyptologist Robert Ritner
I have the 2nd part going right now and the beginning of it is an absolutely perfect takedown of the John Gee podcast last week. Holy hell is that brutal. And the voices are all correct so whatever happened last week is fixed. Dehlin is no longer possessed by a demon. This is the apologist beat-dow...

Re: Purpose of D&C
What is the purpose of the D&C today? It was meant as a place for revelations in the early days, but has not been updated with “revelations” in years. Why is this? Why hasn’t the D&C been kept updated? Case in point: the WoW. The WoW doctrine is so inconsistent and so scattered across the place tha...

Re: Secret Mormon Meetings of 1922
I did have a hard time with John's gaslighting rant at the end, though, that "they know the problems and they're hiding it and gaslighting us," and oh the carnage! Lookit, I think it's much more nuanced than that. If my lovely wife, whose only motive in ignoring church history and the problems that...

Re: My Interview with Brian Hauglid is Up!
I wonder if the Q15 know how precarious the church activity of people like him is. Finally, I find it funny when The Interpreter publishes articles critical of the scholars, especially when those scholars are being paid by the church to do what the church wants them to do. The church appears to me ...

Re: Grant Palmer's non-believing GA revealed
I have lots of conflicting opinions on this. Busche was a paid GA for a career and if he knew it was all BS then I don't have much sympathy for his privacy. He was out there encouraging young people to go on missions, bearing testimony and committing the youth to a lifetime of service to a fraud. He...

18 year old event. Brand new user with a single (albeit repeated) post who accidentally confirms facts that Tom shouldn't have known. I'm Not Buying It, even though that's not my handle.

Re: Section 110
I remember having an argument about this with someone years ago on this forum. In my opinion, Oliver had to be a confederate. He was involved in too many supposedly foundational events in the early Church. The translation of the Book of Mormon. The restoration of the Aaronic and the Melchizedek Pri...
