Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

Sister Ryder and I both tested positive earlier this week. So far fairly mild and manageable. The biggest worry is wondering if this is the worst of it or if this coming week will get worse. The weird headache has me up at night. Not having to sweat through polyester polygamy panties has been comfo...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

After working all year in healthcare, I ended up having a positive covid test the day after I scheduled my vaccine appointment. 2020 irony for sure. I'm doing just fine, and I've had a very mild case overall. The timing was fortunate as it was easy for my kids to quarantine/the older ones were alrea...

Cheers, NOM. We've almost made it through 2020. That definitely calls for a celebratory beverage of your choice.

Re: To share your doubts with your children or not, that is the question

One of the things that I'm most grateful for in life is that I managed to get out of Mormonism before it had also trapped my kids. I definitely told them about it when I left the church, and I'd answer any questions they have at any time now.

Re: #givethanks

I was a little excited to see some people who rarely post on FB post there today, and then I was just sad. So much performative behavior. This is the kind of nonsense that would have irritated me even when I was a Mormon.

About half of us wear masks.
Wait. Is there no mask mandate in AZ? This is so irresponsible either way.

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

In my state (not UT), the governor explicitly stated that the rules do not apply to religious gatherings. I mean, I didn't know that viruses made exceptions like that, but what the heck do I know. Also, what grade do they teach you that your nose and mouth are connected? I mean, a lot of people need...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

The other people who share my office tested positive today. I tested negative and do not have any symptoms, but I now get to be tested daily until I'm past my window or have covid, so that's fun.

2020 is the worst.

I'm sorry for everyone's losses, too.

This year has sucked on an unbelievable level in so many ways.

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

Our stake just announced full time SM attendance with no restrictions. So dumb. Stay home. What is wrong with people? My kid's middle school was shut down entirely last week because they reached 1% infection rate for positive cases, so they closed down to disinfect everything and give people some q...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

I'm just so frustrated by what this year has shown me about a frighteningly large number of my fellow humans. Amen. I was totally unprepared for the selfishness, bigotry, and general nastiness. And, I guess, naively optimistic about the degree that people actually care for others, especially many w...

Feel free to cite any reputable sources from medical or scientific journals or groups. We'll wait. I'm not waiting Glass. I've got better things to do with the little time I have left. (I'll be dead before any real evidence shows up for the BatSh!t Crazy conspiracy theories show up.) I know I shoul...

Re: Explaining religious past to kids

Oh, I explained to her about the priesthood the other day and how 12 (and 11! now) year old boys could have it but not their moms or sisters as well as what that meant for who is allowed to run things. She was in total shock about that. Especially as she is, by far, the most organized and has the mo...

Re: Explaining religious past to kids

That's basically what I told her. I said when you are raised and grow up believing something, sometimes it takes a while to figure out it's not true.

One day, she's going to find out about garments, and that will be a whole new conversation. lol

Explaining religious past to kids

I'm not sure if anyone will be able to relate or not, but I'm curious what other people do in this situation. I've been out of the church completely for almost 6 years. Done. My husband initially was like "I'm still going" but he went exactly 0 times without me. He was never as Mormon as me, and he'...

I'm glad they've walked back on the hardline that they taught me as a kid. It's definitely not healthy to add that type of thought onto the already complex situations involving suicide and grief.

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

I got back another (required, I didn't have symptoms) covid test today which is good. Even better, I'm about to start getting tested every 3-7 days for the forseeable future because of the level of community spread and my job. Some people are upset about it, but I am ecstatic since I have so much an...

Re: Just a reminder - you are better off without "Families are Forever"

So true. My believing family members' beliefs cause them a lot of pain over this issue. It's awful, and it leads people to be manipulative and controlling.

Personally, I think this life is all we have, but if I'm wrong, I'll deal with it then.
