Re: New and Confused (so long its not true, one little woman...)

I know some will encourage you to keep faith in God or Jesus. Quite frankly, don’t worry about what others tell you what you need to keep believing. That goes for those that would tell you not to believe too. After living such a high demand religion, take time for yourself to figure out what you bel...

Re: Does anyone have references to the Nov. Policy being given by revelation?

Let’s not forget that just seven months ago, they incorporated the November policy into the seminary curriculum to demonstrate how revelation works. https://wheatandtares.org/2018/08/16/for-seminary-students-exclusion-policy-is-model-of-modern-revelation/ You know, before public outcry made them cha...

Re: POX policy gone!!!

So, instead of being excommunicated for apostasy, married gays will simply be excommunicated for fornication. This would be setting a trap for themselves for ostensibly unrelated reasons. Part of the apologetic defense of Joseph Smith's polygamy is that he did not consumate most(?) of the marriages...

Re: Ward Council is Closed (Minded)

I began loathing WC during my faith crisis. I was the EQP when I told the bishop I didn’t have a testimony anymore. I probably should never have accepted the calling, but I was terrified someone would find out I didn’t have faith. WC became almost intolerable toward the end though. Our ward had it t...

I’m so sorry alas. This is precisely why I have a living will. Here’s hoping that he can pass in peace.

My favorite is churchojesuschrist.org. It rotates between things like CES Letter, Mormon Stories, exmo Reddit, and so on.

Re: Starting over (almost)

Thanks all! We really are enjoying the area. I actually went and had lunch with a fellow exmo on Friday - nice to sit down with someone that gets it!

I think we’re all (family) just having to learn where and how to meet friends when we don’t have that instant community.

Starting over (almost)

It’s been a few months since I’ve been here. Life got busy. Many of the things that bring church to mind aren’t present in my life anymore. Sometimes I think I’ve mostly gotten over being angry, other times I wonder if I’m just avoiding it. I’ll take it either way at this point. In 2018, just over a...

Re: LDS fireside this Sunday on "Navigating Doubts"

I didn’t watch, but reading summaries here and elsewhere, I’m disappointed thinking my mom problably did (or will). My first name is Steven, so I’m sure she’ll see this as divine council.

Re: A Mormon Math Problem

Coming from a large enough, mormon enough family that this has happened before even without bulk ward ordaining: they will do none of the above. They will get permission to do all the ordinations in the grandparent's ward at the same time. Family will all travel there at once. Badda bing, badda boo...

Re: Meeting with Stake Pres.

I hope I'm not being too nosy, Mack - You say that you are going to rejoin the church for your wife. Were you excommunicated or did you resign? (I resigned.) I'm wondering because someone who resigns has a harder time rejoining, so I understand, than someone who was "disciplined" by the church. It ...

Re: Feeling anxious about new YM/YW announcement

No, we didn’t give it to everybody, but we probably should have. Having known the youth leaders for so long, they were already following the two-deep policy. I’d actually been in YM before I was the EQP and they wouldn’t even give rides to kids without another person in the car with them. We emaile...

Here's a bit of a surprise: The outcome of Gina Colvin's tribunal: "No Action."
I was surprised by that as well. Maybe the further removed from SLC one is, the more leeway the SP has to actually weigh evidence.

Re: Temples and land speculation

Best to doubt the Tribune before you enter the bowls of apostasy! First - where can I find a bowl of apostasy? Sounds like it would be great to eat cereal out of. Second - I also heard about the land speculation for the first time on John's podcast. My first thought was things like the multi-millio...

Not me, I’m already resigned. If not, I’m sure that somebody in my wife’s ward would have complained about me already.

Old Fashioned made with Four Roses Single Barrel Heh, I just had my first Old Fashioned tonight. Made with George Dickel Rye. I've become an instant fan of the cocktail. It’s a good one, for sure. Just had another one tonight with Basil Hayden’s Dark Rye. Easy cocktail to start with, for sure.
