Re: Priesthood NOMference!!

-10 another reference to the Lord's Youth Battalion. My daughter hates that crap, none of the kids she knows are buying into it. So out of touch.

I don't think that "Lord's Youth Battalion" thing is sticking like they want it to.

Re: Forced Turning Point

What I am concerned about is that once that fact is revealed, I will be released and labeled as "unworthy" to participate in my kids coming-of-age rituals. Yeah, that sucks, I walked that line for years. I would reach an understanding with one bishop and then they'd change and I'd have to go throug...

Sounds like you need a tub of Sanka coffee which is prophet approved. Whether or not you actually drink it is irrelevant because you can always explain the cup of joe you are drinking is Sanka.
"Coffee?!?, don't be silly; it's a Sanka-uccino with an extra shot of Sanka."

Re: General Konference Predictions

I predict the creation of the Deseret Coffee Company owned by the church. In Konference, RMN will announce Coffee drinking is okay, but only from church approved sources. Only the Deseret Coffee Company is an approved source.... I've given up on the hope for legalized coffee.. I've had my heart bro...

Re: Thought I was finally going to hear a miraculous healing story...

And isn't this just the point of this addendum? That we want our TBM significant other to come to this conclusion, like a normal person would? I think that's the happy ending of this story, no? It's actually kind of weird... it's like she (and many other TBMs I know) believe in the blessing but don...

Thought I was finally going to hear a miraculous healing story...

We are having Stake Conference this weekend, and as a goodwill gesture to my TBM wife, I decided to watch the live stream of the Saturday night adult session with her. The visiting Area Authority Seventy spoke, and at the end of his talk, he told us in a very solemn tone that he was going to relate ...

Re: Status updates?

Our ward was doing 1 hour optional either in person or broadcast Sacrament meeting, with Zoom SS and PH/RS. We just had a spike of cases in our area, so they have now completely cut out the in person meetings and it's all broadcast now.

Re: The missionary half-story

Hah! I love this thread. So much cringe in my past. I remember bearing testimony in a zone meeting of how my serving a mission was blessing my family back home. Some missionaries had tracted into my elderly aunt, and knowing that I was a missionary, she invited them in. If I had not chosen to serve ...

Re: Studying Antiquity

I have a copy of the First 2000 Years on my bookshelf. It was my grandmother's, and I got it after she passed away last year. She loved that stuff... all the crazy claims in that book, and all of the Ezra Taft Benson anti-communist stuff was her view of Mormonism (as it was called back in the day). ...

Re: RFM and Peter Bleakley

Absolutely fantastic interview with RFM! I also listened to his facebook recordings and they are great as well. He articulates so many of my feelings about the church so incredibly well. One thing he was talking about on his facebook recordings that I found interesting was how the "mormon ideal" is ...

These are hilarious! Every one! I've heard most if not all of these sentiments at some point in my life in the church. There's always "that" person with no filter who believes this stuff..

Re: Expect No Good Apologies

No wonder the church is not in the business of giving apologies. A perfect God (and his perfect church) don't make mistakes and so have no need to feel remorse. And they can't make the situation right. Yup, there is absolutely ZERO upside to the church for apologizing for anything. Unfortunately, D...

Re: Did you learn anything in the temple? Yes!

My grandfather told me that every time he went to the temple, he learned something new and different. Heard this so many times. I would always wrap my head into a pretzel trying to understand the hidden doctrine in the temple. The signs, especially. I went through in 1990 after they got rid of the ...

Re: RFM Does President Nelson!

I'm glad someone else picked up on the odd clarification that RMN met Wendy AFTER his first wife passed away. I know exmo reddit especially goes on about him being a polygamist (which in the eternal sense he is) and the "interesting" relationship Wendy has with Sheri Dew. Perhaps he wanted to make i...

He didn't have anything to say, but he had to say something. Regardless, the overwhelming message that everyone should get from it, believer or disbeliever, is that there is no help coming from the COB. Sink or swim on your own, brothers and sisters. Yup, exactly. A constant theme of my arguments w...

Re: Church Growth in Times of Pandemic

Thanks Graey, for the interesting info. I believe Covid did the same thing to a lot of members. We were told we wouldnt be happy without church attendance, temple attendance and paying a honest tithe. Members have instead found that staying home on Sunday is actually kind of relaxing. Not attending ...
