Re: My Interview with Brian Hauglid is Up!
RFM YOU ***ROCK***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the BEST interview you have ever done! Brian Hauglid is a hero for his honesty. And you had better allow my comment I made, it says it is in moderation, so please accept it. I listened to it all in one setting. SENSATIONAL! Give me a...

Re: Biblical scholarship vs the Book of Mormon
This is the crux of my apostasy. The book of mormon requires things of the bible that the bible simply isn't. Most revolve around biblical literalness that can only be handwaved away with a claim for a trickster god; an equally untenable position. One of the real testimony killers to me also. Yes, ...

Re: RFM and Evangelicals. Out of the pan and into the fire?
Reuben FWIW, my #1 requirement for a god is that it doesn't really want to be worshipped. A staggeringly STRONG point. The other point I would have is that it actually has love and shows it...in unmistakable terms, not vague faithy sort of ways. Another one is that it just exists with us here and n...

Re: RFM and Evangelicals. Out of the pan and into the fire?
I listened to most of it as well and had similar feelings. These folks had left Mormonism and found faith in Christ without all of the Mormon baggage. I’m glad they have found something that they enjoy and works for them. It was odd because most who stop believing in Mormonism stop believing in God...

Re: Request: short list of JS paper juiciest bits?
What sealed the deal for me that Joseph Smith was a traitor was his being anointed literal king, and his followers being and going through the same, only in super top secret. This is entirely, 100% TOTALLY at variance with everything about having America free under the Constitution. I even had the h...

Re: The Interpreter Foundation
Hagoth The latest FAIR newlsetter has an opening statement by Steve Densley, the Executive Vice President of the foundation. In it he talks about how difficult it is to change peoples' minds because of confirmation bias and boomerang effect (aka backfire effect). No. The way to change minds, the tr...

Re: Biblical scholarship vs the Book of Mormon
graey I'm always boggled about how members will spout off about how critically important it is to have the gospel in our lives, it is central to EVERYTHING we do, our lives would be lost without all that it brings, and yet, most of them never actually study it. They don't need to study it these day...

The Archaeology of Ancient Holy of Holies Used Weed for Their Rituals
https://www.livescience.com/cannabis-shrine-israel.html So this is where ancient prophets got the Spirit...... Cannabis, otherwise known as "weed" you know, Satan's drug Marra-G-wanna, has been discovered in ancient Israel and Tel Arad on the sacred altars of the ancient temples! I truly seriously c...

Hagoth Imagine if Jeffrey Holland gave his Wrong Roads talk in conference and when he got to the punchline about how God gives you the wrong answers so you'll know the right ones when you stumble across them, everyone erupted in howls of laughter that went on for a solid minute. We all did, we were...

Re: Is The ANY record of Prophecy About Corona?
I was going through an old archive and found one from some guy with a beard (ancient prophet?). What he said sounded profound, "I do not always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis". Take that Corona!!! I LOVE this bird, hangin out with us giving us things to smile and laugh about. T...

Re: Intellectually malleability, you know, for church standing
Ah yes, good ole Edwin Goble. Well evidence always trumps what one "feels" to be right, so to defer to priesthood authoritah without any evidence is ridiculous. It's evidence alone which has always established reality on our human scale. Nothing else has ever taken its place. Wishful thinking, doctr...

Re: If I could ask them one question . . . Come Follow Me, Lesson 18
Ya know, I just gotta say that I think it *would* make a difference if Christ was crucified on the Golden Arches. That would mean it happened during my life time. Those Golden Arches didn’t exist when I was born, so there would be a recent historical record, and maybe we could check out a few detai...

Samuel the Lamanite's code name for modern times was Tonto. The tv series "The Lone Ranger" was designed to give him secret signals about the Last Days, and when it was time to gather the hiding Three Nephites.

Re: Brewsterites and the Oatman Massacre
Fascinating story! The Brewsterites are an interesting group. As I understand it, David Whitmer became the leader if the Brewsterite church at one point, with James C. Brewster acting as the Prophet, Seer, and Revelator. Like Joseph, Brewster had been visited by Moroni and dictated books of scriptu...
