General Authority Ex'd

Post by Spicy McHaggis » Tue Aug 08, 2017 12:10 pm

I haven't heard of him but I don't ever listing to conference or read the Ensign.

The church points out "it wasn't for apostasy".

I'm sure he's had the 2nd Anointing so it doesn't matter. His Sundays just got a lot better.

Apparently he was considered for apostle when Renlund went in?

Spicy,

I just popped in to offer condolences that your thread lost the popular vote to the flashier "70 Ex'ed" thread.

I'll join in the party getting started here.

The lesson learned (which I've now coined as "The Hamula Rule") from all of this is:

The church can and will do whatever the F it wants!

Let's assume he has the 2nd anointing AND was excommunicated. Apply the Hamula Rule.
Let's assume he was banging the maid. He gets exed. Apply the Hamula Rule.
Let's assume he was exed for apostasy. They exe him to send a warning. Apply the Hamula Rule.

Gay kids can't get baptized? Apply the Hamula Rule!

Another possibility that has been mentioned is that this may have been one of those hidden wedge sins, possibly something that he would never do if confronted with the opportunity today, that he ultimately couldn't keep bottled up anymore. The thing is, excommunicatable offenses are like parking tickets; they don't diminish in value over time.
