Drop bys and calls

Post by Enoch Witty » Wed Oct 18, 2017 7:28 am

A couple Mormons recently stopped by. One I am friendly with, the other I met once and had forgotten so I reintroduced myself. I suspect this was a HT visit. They came by uninvited, so they were not allowed in the house. We were about to have bath time, so I spoke to them for about a minute, then excused myself to give my son a bath. They left and I didn't have to talk about anything Mormon-y.

Last night a lady I don't know called and said her name as if I should know exactly who she was. I was like, "I'm sorry, who?" And she took me off speakerphone and said again, and it was like   , I don't know you! But I let her say her piece, and it was asking if my wife or I could cover the Family History Center on Tuesdays during October (DW was previously a FH specialist, I guess technically I still am), and I just said, "No, we really can't." And left it at that.

The missionaries have come by for dinner a few times in the past months, and when they start talking Mormon stuff is when I excuse myself to do the dishes.

Saying no feels really good. I haven't gotten explicit about my disbelief yet, as 1) I am non-confrontational, and 2) I am fairly private, so I may never tell them why the answer is no. But the best part is that I don't have to. :D

Way to handle those pesky drop bys!

There is something so liberating about essentially telling TBMs: "I'm going to be me, and you're going to deal with it"
