Board Rules

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

Board Rules

1) No Foul or abusive language, name calling, bullying or personal attacks; Keep language PG and question/critique ideas not people.

2) No Over-the-top disrespect for the church and believing members; This is basically what separates us from the "angry anti-mormon" forums.

3) No openly mocking of the temple ceremonies. The sharing of opinions, experiences (including negative) with the temple and ceremonies is fine/encouraged, even using temple phrases out of context is fine, but keep in mind that some of our audience will be in tender stages of disaffection or that members who frequent here may have believing spouses who read here. Keep out of the domain of mockery/belittling.

4) No name calling and pejorative language about the church, leaders, and members. e.g. "TSCC" (the so called church), morgbots (for members) rude nicknames for leaders (ie. "Jowls").

It is fine to critique leaders, things they said, policies, the church structure and organization, etc. but we want to keep our thoughtful critiques about issues/ideas. We're not here to degrade the church and everyone associated with it. It's the difference between saying things like, "I can't believe you people are willing to stay in this **** CULT," and saying "I wish the church (or my spouse, etc.) would recognize how cultish and controlling this behavior is."

3) No Soliciting, proselytizing, dumping high volumes of propaganda/spam: asking for money, linking to for-profit websites, active attempts to convert people to a particular ideology, multiple threads on the same topic, etc.

4) No Thread-jacking; stick to the topic of the thread within reason. This is not something moderators are out to police, but if disruptive/obnoxious patterns appear, comments could get deleted, moved to a separate thread, etc. (example might be a member who goes on a rant about garments or the Book of Abraham anytime they comment on a thread regardless of the topic).

5) No doxxing: We all need to keep in mind nothing on the internet is really private and therefore we should not share things we wouldn't want discovered. Keeping that in mind, NOM posters/members cannot engage in doxxing and remain a member of the board. Doxxing is defined as: searching for and publishing private or identifying information about a particular individual on the Internet, typically with malicious intent. This would include contacting a member's ecclesiastical leaders, publishing a member's legal name, etc.

6) No sharing or quoting of the contents of any Private Messages without the specific permission of the author of that message.
