Not that it's a requirement, but there's a sign-up sheet to help them get a head count: http://protectldschildren.org/march-for-children/

Also, they're promising sandwiches.

I signed up and I was thinking that if any of you will be attending we should try to make contact.

Me!

I think you meant Friday, March 30th. Otherwise, I requested the wrong day off from work.

I work right across from the County building in downtown SLC, so it would be easy for me to get there. But I also have quarterly product planning I have to finish up that day, so it depends on what time they start and end. Any ideas? Never mind, I just saw the time in the margin. It's quite possible I can make that happen, so mark me as tentative.

Hmmm.

Maybe I'll have to take a vacation day and go for a train ride.

Sounds like a big old "NOM" meetup. Are we going to go with tradition and wear Santa hats to identify each other? What are we doing for food and beverages afterward?

I have a unicorn mask, but no Santa hat. As far as beverages, there are many fine establishments in the Salt City that provide inspirational spirits and excellent barley beverages.

Tell you what, I'll plan on hanging out at this marker around 11:45:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Salt+ ... 111.886826

https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7605685 ... 312!8i6656

Feel free to hang out with me. I won't be wearing a Santa Clause hat but I do have a (short) white beard. I will probably be on my bicycle, weather permitting.

Is there anything that people can do who can't make the march? I'm on the other side of the country.

Yes, send me money and candy.

You have signed his petition, I presume?

Yup. Real name and real state back in early December.

Just a reminder (and to refresh the post): when I said next Friday I was referring to the NEXT next Friday, March 30.

Then you have done plenty.

I saw on Sam's blog that he is accepting contributions now. He lists his expenses so far and it comes to something like $75,000. He said he has given himself a limit of $100K. Surprising that he has spent so much, but a lot of it is flying friends and family into town to join the march.

Any word on how the march went?

With recent leaking, I think this march will be very poignant. All these best to those that attend.

I would expect that yesterday's leak is going to draw a lot of additional attention to this.

Yes, a lot of attention should be put on the issue of the "Interview Culture." Please LDS church, stop trying to to take the place of God. Stop trying to judge people and withholding temple "blessings" from honest people, when it is common knowledge that dishonest people attend the temple regularly. Start to realize that we all a broken, that we all are sinners, and if humankind wants to build a real "Kingdom of God" it will have to rely on Divine Nature, not human nature. God is Love, God is Truth, at least that's what I believe, but I could be wrong.

OK, this week the subject line is correct.

I'm getting the impression there is going to be a good turnout for this. I hope so. I think Sam's cause also strikes other nerves: MTC sexual abuse, LGBT policies, "worthiness," teen suicide...

I've never been to anything where I carried a sign and I'm trying to decide if I will. I'm not sure what that would say. I saw a couple online that I thought were great:

"I'm not really a sign guy, but geez!"

"So bad even introverts are here"

"I'm not longer accepting things I cannot change, I'm changing things I cannot accept"

Some ideas I had:

Blank with fine print: "It goes without saying"

"Our Children are Worthy"

"Only church with child "worthiness" Interviews - Fastest growing teen suicide rate"

"It's NOT doctrine" plus maybe: "It's CONTROL"

"Most LDS men are GOOD - they shouldn't have to defend those who are BAD"

"Don't make me do this again!" or "Don't make me come up there!" (with a picture of the COB)

Picture of angry Jesus saying, "Who told you this was OK anyway?"

Touch-and-go with work, and whether or not I'll be able to attend.

And, yeah: No sign for me...

("Here's your sign?")

Love it. Put a post-it on your middle finger that says that.

I'm also leaning toward no sign. If I had thought of it earlier maybe a T-shirt. Or maybe a placard on the handlebars of my bike.
