Rabbit Hole

Post by slavereeno » Thu Jan 17, 2019 6:04 pm

Mindy Gledhill is releasing a new album on Jan 25th titled "Rabbit Hole" apparently the music has been inspired by her transition out of the church. I just listened to the title track on you tube. DW and I have enjoyed some of her songs in the past.

I enjoyed this article:

Apparently she documented her faith journey on social media and it had a powerful impact for some followers. I respect that. It makes me wish I was more brave.

I read the article in the Sltrib last week and really enjoyed it. I liked that she said this was her journey and not necessarily that of her husband or kids. I like some of her songs. I find her lack of faith non-disturbing.

Meh...

Not enough heavy metal satanic influences for me!

Her story is great though!

“I switched baristas” ~ Lady Gaga

I really like it - the song is like a cross between Regina Spektor and Tori Amos. Love the lyrics.
"And I don't need you...or, your homespun philosophies."
"And when you try to break my spirit, it won't work, because there's nothing left to break."

Yep, lyrics like these from "Wandering Souls"
Existential questions like a flame in the night
Keeping me awake with tears that burn like a fire
And I’m getting to the point of feeling overly tired
Of the people who say, “You’ve gone astray”

Wandering souls may appear to be lost
When in truth they are forging the trails
Of their most earnest thoughts
This is no patty cake, taffy-pull, carnival ride
This is the crucible of life

Riding through the borderlands of sleep and awake
Mapping every bend and twisted fork that I take
Near obsessive over details like the whole world is at stake
Even still people say, “You’ve gone astray”

Wandering souls may appear to be lost
When in truth they are forging the trails
Of their most earnest thoughts
This is no patty-cake, taffy-pull carnival ride
This is the crucible of life
She stuck the phrase "patty cake, taffy-pull" in there! Haha!

Turns out my oldest daughter was at this concert tonight and sat by/near John Dehlin. She just left the church within the last year and is moving faster than her old man.
