Message from Mormon.Org

Post by moksha » Sun Apr 14, 2019 8:54 pm

I got a most interesting email message today from Mormon.Org. It was titled, "Happy Palm Sunday". That is the first time I have ever heard mention of Palm Sunday in the LDS Church. Is this something new? Is the LDS Church starting to embrace traditional Christian celebrations and nomenclature? Will the Church next talk about the stations of the cross?

Maybe it’s effort again to appear more Christian? ;)

“It was Palm Sunday & due to having a cold, 5-year-old Billy stayed home from church. When the rest of the family retuned home, they were carrying several palm branches. The boy asked what they were for. “People held them over Jesus’ head as he walked by.” Billy responded, “Wouldn’t you know it - the one Sunday I don’t go, & he shows up!”

Do you think with this new branding going on the church is trying to become more Christian?
Why don’t mormons celebrate Holy Week with our Christian brothers and sisters?

I heard from the IT folks over in Riverton that a computer glitch sent out the message to a secret email distribution list of all known members who have confessed to masturbation.

When brought to the attention of the Q15, Elder Bednar said, "well let's not worry too much about it. The Deacons, Teachers, and Priest Quorums don't read emails and the Elders will just assume it's related to Easter!"

Further analysis determined that 99.9% of the Priesthood received the email in error. The other .1% need to be reminded of the importance of not lying to their leaders.

According to the Common Liturgical Calendar, tomorrow will be Ruby Tuesday, followed by Spy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Super Saturday, and Easter Sunday.

Spy Wednesday gets its name because that is the day on which Judas betrayed Jesus to the General Authorities in the Sanhedrin.

Click on this link and see what happens. I promise this is not some sketchy redirect to some malware laden porn site (although those are available upon request). No, it returns this message:

The LDS church literally owns the domain name "victoryforsatan.org". I can only imagine the hilarity of some IT guy telling his supervisor that they should purchase that domain right after Nelson made it famous in October 2018.

I think a random dude bought that domain and the church Is blocking the redirect because, frankly, it's hilarious.

Oh, you are right. Their load balancer or firewall is not processing the URL. It does not work with SSL at all (httpS://victoryforsatan.org)

Interesing. Never heard of Spy Wednesday.

Super Saturday were the days the RS and YW got together to make crafts of some sort, or the YM and YW got together to do some activity.

I thought Ruby Tuesday was a song or a hotel.

Every time I hear or read "Maundy Thursday," my mind thinks, "Monday Thursday?".

Given a choice, I think I'll stick with Fat Tuesday, although both are pretty tasty.

I suppose in our own sphere, the most symbolic way we could celebrate Spy Wednesday is to betray a BYU student to the Honors Code Tribunal for punishment.
