Who would you like to meet in the after life?

A. Jesus Christ
B. Joseph Smith
C. ___________

Explain your answer.

I would like to sit at a poker table in the afterlife casino with L. Ron Hubbard, Joseph Smith, and Jesus Christ and call their bluffs.

Although I’d probably be able to see right through Jesus’ hands.

Every time I drive down I-15 I see that Christian billboard that says "After you die you will meet God."

I know the billboard is intended to scare the bejeezus out of you and make you think, "damn, I better straighten up and call the number on that billboard before it's too late!" but my mental response is always, "I certainly hope so, because I don't believe what anybody down here is saying about him and I would love to get some answers straight from the horse's mouth. Maybe point out to him what a terrible job he's done at making himself and his intentions known to a hundred billion or so of his children."

Charles Darwin - It would be interesting to talk with the guy who dropped a nuclear bomb on Creationism, but remained married to a faithful Christian. And apparently he enjoyed chatting at the coffee shop, so he's probably a fun guy to talk to anyway.

Joseph Smith - so I could kick him in the balls. That bastard screwed things up for me real good.

Maybe you could take that up with your first relative who joined the church?

It’s crazy to think that my first relatives who joined the church in the 1850’s were just poor immigrants who found a community to support their struggled life.

THIS is the main reason I want to meet Joe in the afterlife. Steel-toed all white (temple) slippers!

As far as my list, I'm gonna start with the first that popped into my head:

Ranndy Rhoads
Layne Staley
Chris Cornell
Chester Bennington

Explain my answer: Again, the "theme" related to those names was what initially came to mind for me. There are likely hundreds of others related to that theme that I'd like to meet.

Jesus, Joseph Smith, and those four you listed all died too early.

Perhaps that’s a symptom of greatness? Or fame and fortune and celebrity?

Before you do that, take a good look at the guy standing next to him with the long hair and disconcerting expression. That's Orrin Porter Rockwell. Might want to look for a good escape route before you follow through with your plan. :)

Many of them, along with their genius, seem to be tormented souls also...

If there's a rock and roll heaven, you know they have a hell of a band...

My Ancient History professor used to be a rock musician. Randy Rhoads was his mentor. My professor died last year which resulted in my graduate program being cancelled and our lab shut down. So I would like to meet my professor in the afterlife to a) give him a big hug and let him know I'm not holding a grudge against him for dying and leaving me in the lurch and, b) make sure he got back together with Randy for a rock-n-roll heaven sort of jam.

Grandpa. He was as TBM as one could possibly be. But he gave the shirt off his back to everyone, never said a (really) unkind word about anyone, and loved his grandkids like nothing I will experience again. He preached to me all my life, and I would always roll my eyes to myself when I had to sit through him talking about another gospel application. But I would happily sit through 100 more if I could spend some more time with him.

Suppose it would be easiest to start with those nearest the entrance and work your way down the line. Meeting those you missed the most would put them toward the top of the list. Some would be just for fun: Watching John Belushi down at the Celestial-Cola Emporium or running syllogisms with Socrates while rowing down the River Styx-on-Nauvoo. Just remember, you've got plenty of time, so take it all in.

Can I pick a trilogy as the 3rd choice? I would choose the 3 Stooges. I like the 3 stooges. (Yes, I'm simple minded)

My mom. She was a person who, just in the quality of her life and her charity could make you believe there was a god. She was that kind of person.

At least a short conversation with Pierre de Fermat, a mathematical genius from the 17th century.

Fermat's Last Theorem stumped the math world for over 350 years. He said his proof was too large to fit in the margin of a book, but that proof was lost to history. The current proof of this Theorem is over 1,700 pages long. What was his original idea, because most people are pretty sure it wasn't nearly as involved as what we currently have.

Hopefully, we will be able to meet all the people we loved and missed when they departed the earth. That is what a loving deity would do. - Wndr.
