NOM - recognized as a choice

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

NOM - recognized as a choice

Post by 2bizE » Mon Dec 23, 2019 9:07 am

Move over eHarmony, Match, and Tinder.
A new dating app has emerged specific for exmormons. It's called New.
This app allows you to define logical choices about your faith status.
One of the choices is New Order Mormon.
We've made it to the minor league my friends.

I'm fairly confident that I will not need this service, but I'm glad it exists.

I have to ask, what does "New Order Mormon" mean now? I see a range of beliefs here, but most of us don't believe the church has the authority it claims. Some attend, some don't. Some are pretty angry, some less so. Some vary by the day. I guess most of us still identify as Mormon in some way, but don't accept it as being Truth.

I'm afraid that the app might think I'm an intellectual believer who accepts the BoM as scripture while simultaneously accepting its 19th century origins or something, like you might find over on By Common Consent.

Being NOM is not a choice. And this isn't just a phase, Mom! /s

(TBH, though, I sometimes wonder how much choice there actually is in all aspects of faith transition.)

I'm somewhat disappointed this app wasn't called ExMormdr.

Now it has become much more of a non-believing/anti-mormon attitude.
I like to think of it as more "non-believing/pro-truth".

It is difficult sometimes to disparage false doctrine and philosophy without wounding those who have been led astray thereby, but we do our best. ;)
