Happy New Year!

Post by Lithium Sunset » Wed Jan 01, 2020 10:13 am

Happy New Year! I wish so many wonderful things for all of you on here.

I was terribly busy with school this past fall... six classes, hour+ long city commute, working, and single mom. I survived! And am happily divorced now. It was a rough year to be sure but every year is in its own way. Life is struggle. I get through everyday, every month, every year because I am not alone (anymore). Thank you for being apart of my support group and for sharing your kindness with others.

Oh, and guess what I did last Sunday.. went to church with visiting family. So many things were going through my mind and I thought.. why shouldn’t I take the sacrament? I put it in my mouth and then....realized what I had done! I had to sit with bread in my hand and not swallow until it was over and I could rinse my mouth in the bathroom. I thought my church friends would get it afterward but they were just so happy for me to take the sacrament...until I reminded them of my gluten allergy! Haha.... stupid me. Happy to report we only stayed for boring sacrament. I’m glad I went (because I know I don’t have to go back anytime soon).

Hard to pick only a few but here are some Fred R. quotes I thought were worth sharing:

"All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we're giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to this world. That's one of the things that connects us as neighbors--in our own way, each one of us is a giver and a receiver."

"If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person."

"There is no normal life that is free of pain. It's the very wrestling with our problems that can be the impetus for our growth."
"The real things haven't changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong." -Laura Ingalls Wilder

Thank you for sharing the thoughts and quotes Lithium! Hope you're next year is wonderful!

Side note: Saw the movie "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" with one of my kids. Later that day I told them that if there were a God, and that God had a prophet, Fred Rogers is what I imagine that prophet might be like.
