Our bishop sent out a very nice letter. It starts by praising Pres. Nelson's revelation about the home-study program, but overall it shows concern for ward members who may need extra assistance. The problem they are really struggling with is how to distribute the sacrament to everyone in the ward. If we can have church at home, why not sacrament? And why not let home teachers (I still have a hard time calling them ministers) provide sacrament for the families they oversee?
I'm just going to tell them not to worry about me. I'll bless my sacrament myself.
Go nuts! No reason you can't.

And if you have the latitude to raise some eyebrows, say this while you break the bread:
Many blessings we have been given; I count them now by this bread. Mother of the Harvest, we thank you for this gift.

Maybe as they talk about the wonders of RMN's revelations, I should point them to this tidbit about how temples stopped stocking hand-sanitizer months ago in order to save money:

TBM wife: RMN was inspired to develop the CFM program so we can meet spiritual needs of family in times like these.
Me: The CFM was actually developed a year or two before RMN became prophet.
TBM wife: yes, but he was a part of the planning though.
Me: What I think RMN received divine revelation on was going to 2 hour church. Now going to 0 hour church shows he is truly inspired...

This really should bring home the ridiculousness of women having to rely on men for "priesthood authority". Why should a grown-up, responsible woman have to have a man come bless bread and water for her so she can have the sacrament? What kind of foolishness is that?
The whole thing is ridiculous. Absolutely ******g ridiculous. I hope every active woman member who is single replies to the bishop in this way: "If I"m not worthy to bless the sacrament myself, then the church is not worthy of having me as a member. Consider this to be my resignation letter." -- Wndr.

I completely agree with the women and the priesthood remarks.

That's the problem though, there were a couple family members who were questioning things. Including women and the priesthood, but this COVID stuff has them all convinced there is something to all this. That covid is a plague to drive us all back to Mormonism, that God is definitely at the helm and the CFM program proves this.

So if The church says no priesthood for women, then that is God's will and God has a plan blah blah blah.

This sucks.

DW asked me if I wanted to bless the sacrament as our stake authorized it. I told her no and then she asked if I was ok having the priests over to do it. I said no and that per the instructions we have a month and should hopefully be back in real church by then. Maybe I'm harsh but I refuse to participate actively in indoctrination or religious practices that seek to replace me as the Dad.

Now would be a good time to send around a fake letter authorizing Women to bless the sacrament in their homes.

I've also heard that there will be TONS of new converts after this is all over. (COVID-19 Converts?)

Thankfully, the majority of them will leave, just like all the others...

While I totally agree, is it wise to start this kind of conflict when we are already threatened with being cooped up for a few weeks?

Interesting how a "World Wide" church didn't bother doing anything about "canceling church" until the pandemic actually finally showed up via way-too-late testing in the U.S. State where the CEO resides...

Yesssss ! And include a thank you to Pres. Nelson for having the prophetic insight to foresee this change six months ago, etc.
I wish there were some way to get ahold of the letterhead/fonts that the Newsroom uses. I think this would be a hilarious press announcement.

YAASSS!!!

or...

what if this is all part of Wendy and Sherri's plan? But maybe this was a back up plan. Wendy wasn't getting anywhere whispering into the baby monitor she planted under Rusty's pillow at night. He wasn't going to giving women the priesthood, but he did take the home centered church bait. They knew that during the black plague in Europe, nuns were permitted to do many of the things priests were needed for. They also know that when Rusty dies and Oaks takes over, he will turn the church into his own personal version of Gilead. So they thought f**k it.
When all they wives were in Italy for the temple dedication, She and Sherri planted a time release virus. Then they got another sister to plant the virus in China. And here we are.

The problem is, the second they start letting folks do all this stuff at home is just one more potential shelf item that a member might use their own brain and think "Hey, why do I need to go to the church to do this stuff, doing it at home was so much better." They want those TBM marching into the chapel for programming and indoctrination because the confirmation bias works so much better in a larger group.

So what does that say about the idiot that spent millions building a conference center we can't use? LOL

Funny how the lens believers look at things through always supports their confirmation bias...lol

This is sort of unprecedented.

I believe the Church at home started off as a “back to basics” program to squeeze the vice and hold onto the kids.

Now pandemic puts it in another dimension.

If the church was smart the focus would be on cost control as economic recovery becomes the new goal and their portfolio recovers. So as a service to the COB here is my suggestion.

Make church once a month for sacrament services only. Keep buildings and properties closed the others 3 weeks of the month.

Then have members PAY not to wear garments.

Lol.

As I imagine an announcement, “double your tithing for the same spiritual protection as garments give.” Suddenly revenue is up and top leaders realize just how hated the garments really are. Then they try to come up with something else to use for a hair shirt to maintain control and then quadruple the tithing when they allow members to pay not to wear that.

They could also institute payment for absolution of sin like the Catholics did for many years. Pay $50 a month to drink coffee, $40 to drink green tea, $35 for black tea (it isn’t recommended by doctors and tastes worse). $500 for the first act of adulatory, $100 for each repeat with the same party.$1000 for an additional partner. And so forth.

Isn't it funny how there was no warning that this would happen? Nothing about, "Hey, stuck up on your food storage and make sure you have a months TP ready by the new year." or "Due to world event that have not started yet, we well go to virtual church early next year."

Yeah, Mormon prophecy only works after the fact.

It's a "worldwide" "church" too ya know?

But they didn't make any changes at all until diagnoses started showing up in UTAH and the UT government started making changes.

And they still haven't told missionaries to sit on the couch.

They should have "seen" this coming in November, or before. (October? )

I got a call from my father yesterday, reminding me that the Prophets have been telling us to store food, and that those prophets were right.
