I liked Dieter’s talk the best. He spoke of Christ. He mentioned Easter. He spoke of his big tent Mormonism. Sadly, I think he is alone in that vision. Maybe when he is president he will act on it. I felt like he is one of the few that understands the different viewpoints of Mormonism.

Hmm, I thought his talk was just a worse version of his October 2013 one. That one seemed much more compassionate; this one compared people leaving the church to naughty children throwing a tantrum and "running away from home," only to come crying back when they realize how silly they are. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

Both sides of the veil is a "we know things you don't, + pay no attention to the declining numbers on this side of the veil."

Maybe they'll start making up for the declining numbers on this side by publishing the baptism numbers for the other side.

100 years from now, GC will be one old guy ranting about the evils of marrying robots and claiming that the gospel is filling the Earth because the number of spirit world converts just passed 100 billion. Then the four families who tune in will perform an embarrassed Hosanna Shout, and the next day go back to their normal lives selling essential oil to each other and cleaning the empty temples so the dead can carry out their ordinances.

I've wondered if the rest of the Brethren set him down and told him to cool it with all that "love of God talk" or else he will only be assigned to the former Soviet Bloc countries.

Literally my ward was having a contest with the other wards: who can do proxy work for enough people to create a ward on the other side fastest.

The way he approached members leaving the church he could have been saying, "Ah...come on back and join the club pantywaist, we didn't mean to make you feel bad by putting worms in your sandwich....everybody does it!"

And then he'd put his arm around your neck and give you noogies.

I think I’ve learned to take from the talk what I like and leave what I don’t.
