Mormonism is embedded in our psyche.
We’ll always be those guys on a bike.
Always wear your garments on a hike.
Wanted to go on a mission since a tike.

Mormonism is embedded in your brain.
Right down to the foundations of your frame.
Can’t get out and ever be the same.
Cuz Mormonism is embedded in your brain.

No matter what you think.
You’ll become an alcoholic if you drink.
Your family will fuss and throw up a stink.
When you use your brain and think.

Joseph Smith might have been a prophet.
There’s no way to really know.
You have to take his word or leave.
then explain that new smiley glow.

Doubt your doubts and stop thinking.
Pick up new hobbies, friends, and drinking.
So that you can shut it all out.
For in the morning you won’t remember anything
Your talking about.

So turn off your brain and go to bed.
Yo gotta get up early to do baptisms for the dead
So clear your cache and dump your old ways
Cause you gotta pretend another day.

So turn off your brain and say good night.
This journey is long and always a fright
Cause Joseph smith delighted in saying
Goodnight Fanny! Let’s get back in bed and keep
“Praying….”

I haven't written poetry since high school, and I remember why.

The Internet opened my eyes
letting my brain process truth
others were stuck in darkness
Waiting began.

Regret and anger came next
questioning every choice I made
Was I always such a fool?
Waiting still for years.

Others saw what I saw
people asked questions
not alone or unloved
Waiting seemed to pay off.

Lost my family
lost my beliefs
found my children’s future
Waiting for nothing now.

Yo! This hits deep.
Didn’t know I would weep. 🥲

The ancient temple on the square,
Erected by a billionaire.

A haunted house where I survived
Baptizing ghosts contrived, disguised

All that passed now visible
Murderous, criminal.

Hunted prey, forgotten grave
Little lives, molested slave

The temple a museum now
Escape, unchain, freedom avow

Here's one I cranked out while sitting in a work Zoom meeting this morning. Productivity!

There once was a boy who debated
Each time he gave in and masturbated
Should he live in fear?
Did Jebus shed a tear?
In Heaven how would he be rated?
Living in stress
Year after year
In permanent guilt and fear
But never did an angel or devil appear
No flaming sword
Only the ward
A tribe and a harbor for shaming
A scape goat called Satan for blaming
A psychotic god who favors the odd
Believe in me and I’ll set you free
From these earthly sorrows and sadness
To an eternity of repeating this madness!
“Sir,' I said to the universe, 'I exist.' 'That,' said the universe, 'creates no sense of obligation in me whatsoever.”

Mine eyes have seen the stuff that the church has tried to hide.

It is rolling forth like a stone cut out of the mountain to fill the whole earth.

One day all the world will know what the church really is--a flipping cult.

Glory Glory halelujah, the truth is marching on.
