Any truth to the rumor that a member can now resign electronically on the church's website or some such?

My dear wife is getting ready to pull the trigger. 8-)

I found this, but I have no idea if they will honor it:

My understanding is you can send a letter from yourself to the ward bishop or clerk and they should honor that. That assumes they know you or of you. With a third party resignation service like quit Mormon dot com, I think you have to do the notarized signatures to verify you are indeed choosing to resign. That may or may not be my fault since back before the notary I may or may not have resigned for an behalf of the first presidency, the quorum of the twelve, George Washington, Arithra Franklin, and my local bishop. Ha!

Good luck and prayerfully consider the eternal implications as you will be cutting yourself off from the garment police.

I emailed leadership resignation letter, which explicitly requested immediate removal (no 30 day waiting period). I waited, waited some more - crickets. Requested again. Informal note saying received. Emailed again requesting written verification of removal and FINALLY recieved letter.

Don't make the same mistakes I did, request immediate written verification of removal in the first request.

It is a relief, to finally be free of it. Best wishes!
