Given how they announce the number of every single conference, I seriously doubt there will not be a special event for the 200th birthday of the Church. It will surely involve reminders about how blessed we are to have the chance to celebrate by attending 10 hours of meetings over the course of the week-end.
They're possibly avoiding dealing with historical First Vision accounts and finding/running around with/translating the plates.

Any celebration of the First Vision would start to resemble Ground Hog Day. Oops - we're going to celebrate it all over again! And again! And yet again!

And like Ground Hog Day, it could be slightly altered each time.

OMG! I hope we find a version of the first vision with Bill Murray in it!

Let's make a list of the major events with dates that will not be acknowledged at the general church level. We can use these as a basis for asking our TBM friends and family why these are not mentioned:

• 19 February 2017: 130th anniversary of the Edmunds-Tucker Act which disincorporated the church (1887). (That was yesterday)
• 17 March 2017: 175th birthday of the Relief Society under Joseph Smith (1842) (coming up soon!)
• 11 September 2017: 160th anniversary of Mountain Meadows Massacre (1857)
• 6 October 2017: 5th anniversay of lowering the mission ages (2012)
• 6 October 2017: 150th birthday of the Salt Lake Tabernacle (1867)
• 8 December 2017: 150th birthday of the reorganization of the Relief Society under Brigham Young (1867)
• 8 June 2018: 40th anniversary of removal of Priesthood and Temple Ban (1978)
• 3 October 1918: 100th anniversary of section 138, Joseph F. Smith's vision of the redemption of the dead (1918)
• 6 April 2019: 130th anniversary of the first general Relief Society meeting held in Salt Lake City (1889)
• 26 March 2020 (approximately): 200th anniversary of the First Vision (1820 [maybe])
• 6 October 2020: 130th anniversary of the "Manifesto” ending(?) the practice of plural marriage in the Church (1890)

I have to give some credit to the official LDS website which acknowledged pretty much all of these noble and infamous dates above including the MMM.
