One of the guys in my ward is enchanted with Ogden Kraut, although he has no aspiration of being a polygamist. Seems Ogden Kraut touch his heart in terms of spirit-filled preaching.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

His writings assume that there are prophets who talk to god as opposed to suits who talk to lawyers. Weird.

Been reading a little of Kraut's 95 thesis thing. I'm smiling. Whether you agree at all with the premise he postulates in the "before" sections, I have to admit it is thought provoking the "now" section that blows some pretty big holes in the earlier foundation, showing that shifting sands are the norm, not the "sure foundation" we were all taught....

You share any of this type of stuff with TBM congregations and you would have a lot of pale faced people, feeling like Satan himself just manifested. What they don't understand is THIS IS FROM THE CHURCH!

Ogden Kraut (1927 - 2002) was an interesting Mormon. He held fairly fundamentalist beliefs, but did not break away from the institutional LDS Church. He was a polygamist and was excommunicated after openly advocating its return in the 1970s. He regularly debated Bruce McConkie over correspondence and was apparently quite sad when McConkie passed away. His writings reflect a strong Millennialist outlook and I think he would have had interesting discussions with Denver Snuffer and other Mormons expecting Jesus to show up soon.

One of his sons hosts a lot of his writings on a website.

From his website, I would guess he is guilty of a couple of McConkie's 7 deadly heresies. :)

His son did some youtube stuff where he shares things that are, if true, pretty out there shaking the foundation. For example, the son said that during McConkie's slow death process, there was a moment where he was afraid to cross over. Why?...because, [Mcconkie] said, we haven't been honest enough with the people.

Stuff like that.

McConkie certainly was an interesting man, saying among other things that the Blood Atonement was taught by BY, and wasn't taught by BY. The hard part is "which BY do you listen to..."

Whatever

A little Ogden Kraut and the right 1000 Island dressing makes for the perfect Rueben. :P
