GA got the ax

Post by mooseman » Tue Aug 08, 2017 2:14 pm

It's frustrating to see the last resort in a discussion of facts be: I disregard those facts because of my faith. Why even talk about facts if the last resort is to put faith above all facts that are contrary to your faith?

This is in the article:
"Members sometimes ask why Church disciplinary councils are held. The purpose is threefold: to save the soul of the transgressor, to protect the innocent, and to safeguard the Church’s purity, integrity, and good name," he wrote.
My only response is fortunately they didn't reveal why they did it, because if they do that, it could destroy character and open up legal action, in my opinion.

Hopefully he will transition and recover. He isn't the only one to be exed--but unfortunately it also ends his employment. So, out of the church and out of a job: double whammy.

Tribune article said the church stated that his excommunication was not for "apostasy or disillusionment".
That doesn't leave a lot of other options. That is, if the church is telling the truth....

Is the church leak proof? We'll see.

Seems to me to be fair, if the church can't tell you what it's for, they shouldn't be telling you what it ISN'T for either.
They just want everyone to know he was a sinner, not a doubter, which is even worse. The church desparately needs to maintain the impression that there are no doubters in the upper echelons of leadership.

I have always wondered what the best category to put posts in. This seems more like a discussions story and not a support story.

I assume it served the Church's purpose to reveal that this excommunication was not due to apostasy and disillusionment while leaving us to guess the real reason of purchasing season tickets to the University of Utah football games.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.
