Enough people declare their official religion as "Jedi" on their national census to make it official in some countries.
I think that is why some of the villagers in Southern Utah have declared the United Federation of Planets to be unwelcome in their towns and have sought to make the Vulcan salute illegal.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Belief doesn't require anything to verify it, in and of itself. Knowledge does; every valid definition of knowledge at least involves justified true belief. But belief alone has an infinite number of possibilities and is sufficient for itself simply by its existence.

It may not take root very well if it has no basis in any kind of facts, but it still requires nothing to simply be.
